The Downtown Belmont Development Association is seeking to commission artwork for a mural project at the award-winning Chronicle Mill redevelopment site located at 96 E. Catawba Street. Historic Chronicle Mill, a nationally award-winning adaptive reuse property in the heart of Belmont, North Carolina, is conveniently located 10 miles west of Charlotte. Sitting on a 7-acre site, the $55 million project includes 238 apartments, 9,000 square feet of commercial space, and a public coworking space.
The primary focus is to enhance the appearance of the highly visible parking deck constructed next to the redeveloped historic mill building. The DBDA is committed to bringing visual arts to Belmont that will transform the space, tell a story, and inspire people by honoring the history of the Chronicle Mill and the Chronicle Mill district that, while no longer a textile village, still today attracts entrepreneurs, innovators, and those seeking to live in a place that maintains its strong sense of community.
