Should you train through pain?

Short answer: No. Athletes should not train through injury-related pain—but they can often continue training through normal muscle soreness.

Pain from an injury can continue to damage tissue, delay healing, and reduce overall function. General muscle soreness, on the other hand, is a normal response to training and is usually safe to work through.

Knowing the difference can help you recover smarter, stay healthier, and perform at your best.
