Lacrosse is the "hottest sport on two feet!" Cool Kids Lacrosse Camps are designed to provide an enriching experience to players at all levels. Beginners explore fundamental skills while experienced campers continue to refine individual skills while developing advanced team offensive and defensive concepts. Coach Jamie Schmidt is director of Cool Kids Lacrosse Camp, head coach of the PDS junior va
rsity lacrosse team, and a 5th-grade teacher. Coach Schmidt the director of the Cub division for the Polar Bear Lacrosse league, Running Helmet division of the MYL spring league, U-9 and U-11 MYL Summer League, and U-11 Lumberjack Lacrosse Academy. Prior to leading the PDS JV team, he was the JH head coach for five years. Since becoming the JV head coach in 2006, he has an overall record of 60-13. In 2009, his JV team went 13-0 and Coach Schmidt was named 2009 N.C. Coach Schmidt has dedicated the last 11 years to the development of lacrosse in the Charlotte area. He has extensive experience working with all levels, especially beginners. He has developed a highly effective "progression of skills" format that is implemented at Cool Kids Lacrosse Camps. Born and raised in Syracuse, N.Y., Jamie was a first team all-midfield selection for section III Class A Fulton High School. In his senior year, he was selected to play for the prestigious Exceptional Senior Game. In 1995, he earned an honorable mention all-league selection for Morrisville College, where he played in the Junior College North/South All-star game. Coach Schmidt then moved up to play at Potsdam State, where in 1997 he helped them break into the top 20 in Division III and led them to their first Empire Lacrosse League championship. Schmidt led the league in scoring at nearly 6 points a game and was named "Player of the Year." He went on to represent SUNY Potsdam in the 1997 Division 3 North /South All-star game. In addition, he was named to the first team all-conference at attack, offensive player- of-the-year for the Bears, and was a two-time offensive player of the week. Following his playing career, Schmidt began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Potsdam in 1998. He also served as assistant coach for the 1998 Empire State Games. Since moving to Charlotte in 2000, Schmidt has an extensive coaching career at all levels. In 2003 and 2004, he was the varsity head coach for Team Charlotte. He has been involved with the U-9 and U-11 Team Charlotte teams, as well.
