3 Mistakes That Stalled My Leg Growth 🚨

No need to suffer from CLS (Chicken Leg Syndrome) any longer 🥰

❌ Neglecting Eccentrics – Failing to control the lowering phase of an exercise diminishes muscle tension and growth. If you rush through your reps, you’re leaving gains on the table. Slow it down and focus on controlling the weight for maximum benefit.

❌ Ineffective Top Sets – Wasting too much energy on excessive warm-up sets can hinder performance during your working sets. Instead of properly preparing your muscles, you may end up fatigued before you even hit your top sets. By optimizing my warm-up routine and reserving energy for the main lifts, I was able to train harder and see better results.

❌ Not Training Through Full Range – Performing half reps, avoiding deep knee flexion, or stopping short on hip hinges limits muscle activation. For full development, it’s essential to train through a complete range of motion with control.

Mistakes I made early in my BBing career ‼️

Reflecting on my early days in bodybuilding, I gotta say I made some rookie mistakes. 🤦‍♂️

❌ Self-coached my first couple of shows, and trust me—don’t do it! It’s a tough road without guidance, and having that outside expertise and unbiased eye is huge in this sport.

❌ Too much on HIIT cardio! It drained my muscle instead of preserving it. Instead I should have opted for more steady-state and step goals. It’ll make a world of a difference in keeping your gains

❌ MORE POSING PRACTICE!!! Seriously, another thing to invest in is a coach here as well. Posing is everything on stage, and I learned that the hard way! You can have the best physique, but it won’t matter at all if you can’t display it right !

GOOD ASS FOOD ‼️🤝

This is why I the flexible dieting approach (outside of contest prep) in my opinion is KING.

IT’S SUSTAINABLE!! Another reason why I preach things like pre-logging to my clients, so they can still indulge in the things they love (in moderation) while still getting the results they’re working their butt off in the gym for.

Currently in a health/recomp phase! ☹️😪

Blood markers are looking great, and I’m focusing on dropping some adipose before ramping up for the October push. This brings to mind a few things you might notice while in a deficit:

- Slight decrease in strength/trouble meeting the same numbers.
- Feeling a bit ‘smaller,’ which can be challenging mentally.
- Longer recovery times between workouts as your body adjusts to lower fuel levels.

As tough as it can be mentally, it’s all part of the process. Just a reminder that progress comes with ups and downs.

Flashback Friday! 2015 ➡️ 2023 winning my first overall 🏆

To all the guys out there struggling to pack on muscle: I’ve been in your shoes, and I get it. Here’s the unfiltered truth:

1️⃣ Stick to the Plan: Pick one direction and commit. Muscle gain requires a caloric surplus, which means you might feel a little uncomfortable. Embrace it—growth happens outside your comfort zone.

2️⃣ Go In with Purpose: Walk into the gym with a clear plan. I can’t help but think about where I’d be if I’d focused on the basics like progressive overload instead of bouncing around aimlessly.

3️⃣ Master the “Boring” Stuff: Consistency is key. Whether it’s cardio, meal prep, or your lifts, those little, repetitive actions add up. Forget the quick fixes; they’re not the long-term solution.
