Mass Guard Hockey Club - Redlegs

Mass Guard Hockey Club - Redlegs We are a hockey club made up by mostly MA Guard Members past and present, with a few extras. We compete in local tournaments and a National Tournament.

We are the Mass Guard Hockey Club (REDLEGS) founded in 1981 by Gen. (R) Sterling McLeod passed on to 1SG Pat Burke, now head coach. Captain CW4 Chris Cobb passed the reigns to SFC Jamie Chambers 5 years ago and has compiled the first ever 3peat championship at Nationals in Las Vegas. The REDLEGS have not lost in Vegas in the last 5 years. The team skates every Wednesday morning at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. Please contact 508-889-8431 for more info.

What a weekend!! We had almost 100 games played over the weekend, with close to 800 players registered, making this our biggest tournament to date, with NSW Police Ice Hockey Club now being the Club that's traveled the furthest to play!

There are a lot of people that put in a lot of hours to make sure that this tournament gets played, The tournament committee members John Edmonston, Brian Morgan, Steve Berna, Brain Hurley and Heath Howell, not only give up their weekend to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly, but a lot of hours leading up to the tournament as well. There is no way I could pull this off without them and I truly appreciate the time and effort that you guys put in to it!

The staff at Lovell Ice Arena has been absolutely fantastic to work with. Rob and Cat, you guys have changed the way we are able to play on and off the ice and we truly appreciate it! We look forward to continuing that next year.

Devri Boston and the Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums for stepping in last minute and putting on a great show Saturday night. If you missed it, you missed a hell of a show and we hope that they'll be able to come back next year and do it again!

Thanks to Todd Angilly for singing the National Anthem before our opening ceremony game.

Jarred and the crew from Seacoast Hockey Officials, not always easy keeping this games in line, we appreciate you guys! Having Jarred on our staff makes things so much easier over the course of the weekend. If you guys have an event, look them up for you Officiating needs.

Speaking of next year, the dates have already been booked, 3/20/26 - 3/22/26. So keep an eye out for the open registration date, usually doesn't take long to fill up.

A big thank you to Mark Dean from Rocky Boots, having you guys as a partner in our tournament is something we look forward to continuing and growing as well. We were just a bunch of dumb cops who loved playing hockey and wanted a tournament to be able to do it at. Having your brand invest in us and support our tournament has been fantastic.

DrinkLMNT and Pure Hockey, we thank you for your contributions and hopefully we can build on that for next year too!

Lastly, thank you to all the teams that came out to play over the weekend. When we started this 14 years ago, never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd be at 50 teams from all over the world coming to play. There is no way this happens without you all and we truly appreciate you guys coming back each year!

We are always trying to fine tune to the tournament and make it a little better each year. So, stay tuned and see what we have in store for next year!!

Please take a moment out of your day on September 2nd to honor and remember the sacrifice of Trooper Mark S. Charbonnier, E.O.W.: September 2, 1994.

During an early morning traffic stop on Route 3 in Kingston, Trooper Charbonnier was shot and killed during an exchange of gun fire with a parolee. A six-year veteran and 31-years-old, Trooper Charbonnier was a member of the 69th RTT (1988) assigned to Troop D. He leaves behind his wife.

Thank you to Trooper Tom Dolan, Motorcycle Unit, for providing this remembrance.
