Yes, our hockey family does occasionally take a break from the ice to enjoy a little fun in the sun on Cape Cod at Spaulding's veteran Sport and Spirit fishing trip with the Falmouth Inner Harbor Fishing fleet!

MANY thanks to all of you who donated used equipment to our Haiti drive late last year!! Everything went to good use, and the gratitude is written in every smile!

The next trip will be in early May - if you have any AFOs, crutches, etc. you are no longer using, please let us know or bring them to one of our Sled Hockey practices on Sundays.

Thank you note from STAND:

Dear Spaulding Adaptive Sports,

Thank you so much for your very generous donation of catheters, wound care supplies, braces and crutches. STAND The Haiti Project is a small non-profit organization that sets up a clinic in one of the poorest cities in Haiti. We are heavily reliant on donations and are so thankful that you thought of us! All the donations were put to great use!

All of the pediatric lofstrand crutches were used. I tried to catch pictures of all the kids with their crutches, but I missed all but 1 ! This cutie has a huge leg length discrepancy and was unable to walk. We outfitted her with a brace, a built up shoe and some crutches and she was walking around everywhere.

I was able to catch some pictures of the kids in the braces that I brought down. Some of the kids had outgrown their old braces and some had never had any before (some never walked before their braces!). For several of the kids, having braces meant that they could go to school (the kids are not allowed in school if they cannot walk on their own).

Although most of the braces went to kids, there was one petit adult who received and AFO donated by Spaulding Adaptive Sports. She had had a stroke and had not been able to walk because of foot drop. After a few hours with the Neuro PT, she was up and walking with and AFO and a cane.

Thank you again for supporting STAND The Haiti Project. Your donations went a long way to make a lot of patients and families very happy. We could not have done it without you!
