With sadness I was informed of the death of Jim Kearney, East Boston. For all of us that had the pleasure of meeting him or being his friend he will be missed. Jim was a "true Boston guy" He was known throughout every neighborhood in Boston either from his position as referee at football games of his active participation in community activities.
Jim and I were fierce rivals on the football field where he played for the East Boston Fittons and I the Charlestown Townies. This rivalry between neighborhoods grew into a lifelong friendship as years past.
Jim was a member of our Boston Park League Reunion Committe which we hosted in 2013 which was a huge success drawing former players and fans.
Jim will be sorely missed by all. RIP my friend.
