I’ve dreaded this post for quite some time. It just made it more real. But here we go…Healthyfit Training Studios will be closing for good on Friday, May 26th. The last 10.5 years as a personal trainer and gym owner have been nothing short of amazing. I have formed more friendships than I ever thought possible. You’ve let me hold your babies, wipe your tears, wipe your sweat 😅 and trusted me to guide you in your health journey. You even did live workouts with me through covid! For years I had dreams of becoming a bigger/better gym. But God had other plans. I’ve had another passion that just kept creeping into my life, working with kids. 2.5 years ago, I started something that changed everything. A summer camp and after school program. And for 2.5 years I convinced myself I could do both. Ultimately, I was faced with the reality that I am not super human and had to choose. I prayed A LOT about this decision and I am 100% at peace with it. That doesn’t mean I’m not sad and I won’t miss my gym more than I can describe. The gym will soon become a huge Kids Worship Center so we can welcome even more kiddos to NBCC, where I now work full time as the Children’s Ministry Director and Director at Camp NBCC. To everyone that has ever come through Healthyfit and trusted me to train them, I say THANK YOU! Thank for so many years of support. Thank you for your encouragement when I told you the news. Thank you for sticking with me and loving me! Cheers to the next chapter 🥰🙏🏻💪🏼.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love my little gym more.
2 years ago, when the world shut down I went into the same mode that many business owners did. I fought to keep it alive. I took everything I was doing in person and quickly made it available virtually. I had zero clue what I was doing. I’m a small gym and up until recently, a one person show! Shutting down wasn’t an option. I watched my friend ADAPT and turn his restaurant into a full takeout/delivery service almost overnight. I watched teachers read to their students everyday via zoom, mine included! I watched people set up offices in their homes while trying to follow e-learning or homeschool at the same time. I watched so many people ADAPT. I had no idea how much support I was going to get!! My little gym more than stayed afloat because of people like this! And so many more! People logged on LIVE with me everyday at 8:30am to workout while others came in person.
Today was the last day of me doing my classes LIVE in my FB group. These crazy people showed up this morning in full costume, strapped a cape on my back and did my last LIVE workout with me 🤣. I’m so excited to get back to all in person to provide a more versatile workout using all the fun equipment and music that doesn’t make FB mad at me for copyright crap 😆.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me both in person and online!! So many businesses didn’t survive this and YOU are the reason that I did 🙏🏻.

Ok, it’s January 2.0. Aka February, the REAL January 🤣.
It’s that time where people are trying to figure out a workout routine and food plan that will work! Unfortunately, that mostly consists of people attempting to cut out carbs or reducing calories really low. While those things might help weight loss, they just don’t stick because it’s unrealistic long term.
It just doesn’t have to be this way!! It really does come down to some simple truths:
1. Lift weights. Add in a HIIT workout 1-2 times a week. The rest should be weight training! You DO NOT have to feel like you’re dying from cardio every time you workout! MUSCLE BURNS FAT.
2. Eat to support your muscle! Muscle must be fed. Drastically cutting calories and carbs means zero energy and will not sustain you!
3. Track your food! You actually have no clue how many calories you’re eating if you don’t track it. Yes, it’s time consuming but so is Netflix. Plug your food in and eat the same foods a few days in a row and you won’t have to do it daily. This picture is my breakfast almost every day. Oatmeal with PB and blueberries, scrambled eggs with salsa and cheese and chicken sausage.
Simplify your life and stay consistent! 💪🏼

Help me welcome Stephen to Healthyfit!! I’m so excited to have another trainer on board 💪🏼. Especially one as awesome as him. He is currently taking new clients! Here’s a little info about the new guy 😉:

What started as an insecurity blossomed into a career for Stephen Grabor. At 6’1, he graduated from highschool weighing only 120 lbs and was able to put on over 20 lbs of lean mass within a year of strength training. After having first hand knowledge of the feeling and results that fitness could bring, Steve knew he wanted to revolve his life around the field. He began teaching classes at The YMCA and gained experience with a wide range of ages and fitness styles. He has taught classes such as HIIT, Women on Weights, Triathlon Training, Wellness Coaching and Fitness Training for Children and Teens. Beyond this hands-on experience, Steve would like to pursue higher education to provide the best care for his clients.

He began at The Ohio State University before transferring to Otterbein University and graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and Fitness. This rigorous program included a personal training practicum, Olympic weightlifting and group fitness. Immediately after graduation, Steve began working in a personal training studio doing both personal and group training.

Through all of this experience, Steve gained both the confidence and the knowledge to improve his client’s health. One of Steve’s greatest passions lies in training beginner weight lifters to add muscle mass and learn the fundamentals of bodybuilding. Starting as a 10 lb newbie, Steve is now closing in on 200 lbs and he loves helping others in a similar position change their body and confidence.

Listen, Mama tired.
I am currently working harder than I’ve ever worked in my life. I’m running a full time summer camp AND my gym.
Why?? Because I’m crazy. And because God has given me gifts that I am called to use.
The truth is… my diet has sucked. My workout schedule has sucked (I say that but I am still working out 3-4 days a week. That’s just less than normal 😉). My commitment to my health has not been the highest priority the last 5 weeks. I’ve found myself choosing the Cheetos over the almonds and sleep over workouts.
Now, this is temporary. Summer will end and my life will even out a little.
My point to telling you all of this is to say that I understand how easy it is to get off track in a busy life.
My advice: don’t let that become your new normal. Don’t wait until Monday. Get back on track the BEST you can in your busy season of life.
Even in the busiest of seasons of life…
Workouts can happen.
Healthier choices can be made.
Be better than your excuses!
I am speaking to myself here too 🤪

Welcome to Healthyfit!
I started studying for my continuing education a few days ago and realized that I’m about to hit 8 years as a personal trainer!
I had no idea what I was going to do with that certification 8 years ago, I just knew I needed to do it...
I’m so glad I didn’t let the negative self doubt get in my way all those years ago. I took a leap of faith and and turned to God to guide me.
This has been one of the best decisions I ever made.
This career has not only allowed to become the healthiest version of myself but it also has given me the freedom to pursue my other passion: children’s ministry. My church allows me rent from them to provide a community gym which gives me the flexibility to run our children’s ministry and summer camp!
Most people think I’m crazy for taking on so much but I am constantly reminded that so many people have jobs they don’t truly love. I am blessed to have 2 that I adore 🙏🏻💪🏼
