No sailing in Charleston this summer! Not!
The JIYC did just get in there Open regatta before all the local open events were cancelled. How is the need being filled. The camps are still doing very well. Strict protocols but great place for kids to learn in the summer in Charleston. Charleston Community Sailing(CCS) has a lot of the better sailors on Sundays doing a Team Racing League on the 420s. If interested look up Charleston Team Racing Association page on FB. JIYC is holding its Thursday night racing run by Mike Heister. And the Y-Flyer fleet is using it as a way to get on the water. Ned and Jess Goss are getting everyone down there and getting lots of locals the chance to race. C*C is having a condensed version of their annual regatta this weekend focused on just a few of the smaller fleets. There is a rumor that we may be having some Tuesday night racing at C of C as well. Wednesday night racing and CORA still thriving. So even though our big events are gone there is plenty to be thankful for. For information on any of this get hold of the sailors in town. Not a lot of travelling and sailing happening but local is just as happening as ever. Sail fast, often, and have fun!
