Last night was something special. Watching these kids earn their promotions reminded me that belts aren’t just given… they’re built—through sweat, focus, and a whole lot of heart.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. Every stripe, every new belt represents hours of hard work, discipline, and growth both on and off the mats.

Keep showing up. Keep grinding. This is just the beginning for you. Everyone that gets to witness your hardwork is very proud to be part of your journey!

We had a few members belt test this weekend and I wanted to share with everyone what it is like.
Our coach, Marcello C. Monteiro, spent his whole life creating a BJJ curriculum for our team. It’s a roadmap and a skeleton on how to properly play jiu-jitsu. Of course, we do other moves and things that aren’t part of our curriculum. However, this keeps everyone on track and lets them know the proper things to study in order to fast track them to the next stripe or belt. This really helps stop people from searching YouTube and wasting time on things that won’t be valuable to their journey.
We typically do a 30 minute review of our techniques and really breakdown why we do them. Afterwards, we roll for an hour straight. If there are no issues, then we graduate to the next step.
I’m forever thankful that we have this tool to help everyone with their BJJ journey. It’s been very haptic for our kids and adults
