I started in the online business space backed into a corner. There was a lot “wrong” in my life when I signed my first design client back in 2015.
I don’t talk about this enough, but starting my first company was an escape route that I didn’t fully realize I was building (thanks intuition!) and then when I needed it, praise be, she was there.
Something I learned in that experience was that I was comfortable waiting…
Waiting for it to get better.
In my specific case waiting for the relationship to get better, the job to get better, the town to get better, the life I had created to get better…
And it wasn’t. If anything it was getting *worse*. 😅
I snapped. I stopped waiting.
I started being different, doing different, thinking different.
I stopped playing reactionary and started being proactive. I stopped playing defense only and started playing offense. I stopped waiting for my life to change and I decided to change my life.
I put in the two weeks notice. I broke off the unhealthy relationship. I called my parents in tears and over thanksgiving weekend in the pouring rain we moved my stuff out. And two weeks later I was in Charleston, full time in my business, and not looking back.
Now I’m a powerful CEO, in a healthy successful relationship, own a freaking home, do work that lights me up, feel delight and joy and ease daily, and gosh… so much more. Everything changed because I changed. I stopped waiting.
What if you stopped waiting?
