Charleston Model Yacht Club

Charleston Model Yacht Club CMYC was established 35 years ago in 1986 and we have fleet racing for East Coast 12 Meter (EC12), Bring your boat and we will sail !

Located in the James Island County Park, minutes away from Downtown Charleston SC, we sail all year round at on a multi acre freshwater lake on Sunday's Midday-4:00 and Wednesday's 11-1. Our only exceptions is during rain, or cold under 40 degrees, or lack of wind, so we only usually miss 3-4 days per year. Our location is one of the best venue's in America with multi course options and permanent

marks, we always have an upwind start. There are grass shores on 2 sides, located a mile from the ocean we almost always have good sailing winds, shade near the shore, lots of parking, and various levels of camping opportunities at the park, tents, cabins, motor homes (see James Island County Park website for amenities).

We had a great day at the pond, great fall day, 12 boats racing, wins all around. We race Wednesdays 11-1, Saturdays 11-1+. Saturday is IOM scoring day. Come out and see the Ferrari’s of model racing.
