Our JIYC Opti team went out with a bang at the Columbia Midlands regatta this past weekend. After ten races, Edison Will was 10th, George Ashcroft was 9th, Fletcher McDonald was 2nd and Baxter Haynes was 1st. This was the final event of the 2022 season and we couldn’t be prouder of our sailors for their hard work. Clearly it’s paid off!

Thank you Columbia Sailing Club for a great regatta and Coach Jack for your great coaching on and off the water. These sailors are looking forward to practicing through the winter to keep their skills sharp. Next spring will be here before you know it and we will be ready!

The James Island Charter HS Sailing team traveled to Lake Jordan for the 2022 SAISA North Points regatta this past weekend and with help from Coach Hamm brought home some hardware. Felix Hagar skippered all 4 A-division races while Jackson Fisher crewed all 4 B-Division races to secure this second-place finish overall. This is one of the last regattas for the HS fall season. You can read more about this HS team by visiting James Island High School Sailing

Big thank you to our coaching staff Kelly-Ann Arrindell and Jack Solway for continuing to advance our juniors by providing support both on and off the water, and the parents/sailors who donated time to packing and hauling boats. We hope to see these numbers grow and results improve with each regatta.
