RODEO READY? Let’s talk June 13th at the Charles City Challenge Whitewater Weekend 2026!
Thanks to the recent rain, the river is looking primed and ready! While low water would mean an "Edge of the World" squirt/slice boat showdown, the current moisture means we are tracking toward a full-on Freestyle Rodeo!
Here is how the divisions break down for Saturday:
THE SURF MACHINES (Beginner/Intermediate)
This class is all about styling those flat moves and foundational surf tricks. While you can totally throw a vertical attempt out there, it shouldn't be your entire ride (or something you're already stomping every time).
BIG TWIST THIS YEAR: We are introducing a Shoreline Spectator Vote! The land crowd will have a massive influence on your final score, so you'll want to get the spectators loud, hyped, and on your side to lock down those extra points!
THE VERTICAL MONKEYS (Advanced)
Loops, cartwheels, blunts, huge air—if you’ve got the tricks, this is your arena. Show us everything you've got. (Note: Judges reserve the right to bump riders up based on known skill levels!)
THE DETAIL: The exact feature we'll be using (for either the Rodeo or Edge of the World) will be officially defined on the morning of Saturday, June 13th, during the Paddler Safety Debrief.
