🌞 ONE LAST CALL FOR SUMMER TUBING! 🛟🌊

Reservations are filling up, and I know there are a lot of you out there who haven’t made it out yet this summer — or maybe you’ve been thinking, “We’ve gotta get out there one more time!”

Well… this might be your chance!

I really hope I’m wrong, but there’s a slight chance this could be one of our last really good opportunities for a great day on the river. Mother Nature ultimately decides how long our season lasts, so if you’ve been thinking about coming out… don’t wait too long! ☀️

👉 Saturday is filling up quickly and we have limited reservations remaining.
👉 Sunday still has more availability, but it’s filling up too — and since it’s still a little further away, I expect those reservations to start going quickly as well.

If you’re planning on renting tubes from us, I’d recommend reserving sooner rather than later. That’s what we’re here for, and we’d love to get you out on the river! 🛟

I truly hope we’re able to stay open for as long as Mother Nature will allow. We’ve had some shorter seasons in recent years, so I just wanted to give everyone a friendl last call in case this ends up being one of our final weekends of the season. 🤞

Tomorrow at The Great Outdoors 🌊

For those of you coming out this Thursday, the river is back to its normal 800 CFS, and the good news is that it’s expected to be running pretty much all day! We’ll likely start shuttling people around 11 AM and continue through roughly 2 PM.

It is showing some rain overnight, but it’s supposed to be done by around 6–7 AM, so the day itself is looking pretty good!

Please shoot me a text in the morning if you’re planning on coming out. River conditions can change, so I’ll be able to verify that everything is still looking good and that the river will be running all day.

Although today is normally a day when there isn’t a water release, we got lucky and there IS a release today! 🌊

We’ll have limited rentals and parking available today for anyone who happens to be in the area and wants to take advantage of the water.

📱 some important information about The Great Outdoors

We don’t always have the greatest cell service out here, and I’m in and out of cell phone range throughout the day. When I do answer calls, the cell service can make it really difficult to have a conversation with all the beeping and interruptions in the background. Meanwhile, calls are coming in and I’m not able to get to everyone and give them the information they’re looking for.

For general information, please check out our website first! You’ll find information about tubing, pricing, arrival times, reservations, parking, shuttles, and how everything works.

If you have a more specific question or can’t find what you’re looking for, please TEXT me at (413) 834-2213. Texting is by far the quickest and most reliable way to get an answer. I’m also not always checking Facebook, so texting is definitely better than leaving a message here.

One important thing to know when making a reservation: your reservation is for your tube and life jacket for the day. Parking and shuttle service are separate because everyone has different needs. Some people shuttle themselves, while others simply want to come here and rent their tubes.

🌊 One more thing about our river…

A lot of people assume our trip is like other rivers that offer tubing — basically a long, easy float where you sit back and let the river carry you.

That’s not quite what you’ll get here.

The Deerfield is definitely lazy a lot of the time, giving you plenty of time to relax, enjoy the scenery, and take in the views. But there are also some pretty good Class I and lower Class II rapids along the trip.

And just to be clear — this isn’t Six Flags. 😄 This is a real river. You need to be an active participant and use your hands to help steer and keep yourself centered in the river, especially when you’re going through the rapids.

If you’re not sure what that means or whether this type of tubing is for you, check out the videos on our website before you come. Click the Facebook link on our website and check out our videos. You’ll see us tubing through some of the rougher sections of the river, which should give you a good idea of what to expect.

We just want you to get a feel for the trip and make sure it’s the right fit for you before you come. 🤙

👨‍👩‍👧 Age Requirement

Ages 10–15 are welcome with an adult. Anyone under 10 is not permitted to tube.

Looks like we caught a little break after all! 🎉

The river is currently flowing at about 1,500 CFS, but they’re now planning to release 800 CFS, which is the normal recreational flow. If everything stays on schedule, the river should be back in great shape by around 12:00–1:00 PM.

I honestly couldn’t believe it! 🤞🌞

We’ll keep an eye on things this morning, but it’s looking like we may be back on the water after all. If you have any questions or want the quickest response, please text me rather than calling.

Hey everyone! So yesterday they were calling for an 1,100 CFS release today, which is usually very doable for us. Unfortunately, today’s release is now 1,500 CFS, so I may have to make today ages 16 or 18+ only depending on how things look.

Also, we won’t have the big bus today. We do have the shuttle van, but it’s going to be a much more limited shuttle capacity, so plan accordingly

It’s been an absolute nightmare of a weekend for the whole tubing community, but I’m still hoping we can salvage today a bit.

If you know anyone who’s planning to come but isn’t on Facebook (and there are a lot of people like that these days), I’d really appreciate it if you could spread the word.

If you’re a seasoned veteran tuber, today will probably be just fine. But if you’ve never been, have only been a couple of times, or you’re not very mobile, just keep in mind you’ll need to be extra aware of staying away from the sides and making good decisions on a day like today.

If you have any questions or aren’t sure if today is a good fit for you, please text me. That’s the quickest way for me to get everyone the information they need as quickly as possible.

OK, so in case anybody was still wondering, the Great Outdoors is closed today! it is way too high for us to allow people on the river. And that means we cannot shuttle. We cannot sell tubes We definitely cannot rent tubes and if you could be so kind as to spread the word to anybody who might be making a long trip out here, or just coming out here in general, I would greatly appreciate it.

Those of you that have a reservation for today and looking to reschedule. You just need to text this number with today’s reservation info and your date for rescheduling.

If you don’t know because you’re coming next year, just let us know as soon as you can at the latest that’s the beginning of next year would be great!

So it’s saying not only is it not gonna be 1800 but it’s gonna be higher at 2200. So pretty much the choice has been taken from us.. at least it’s not a total surprise that hit us this morning.. 😔

Hello hello, my fellow tubers!
This message is for this Saturday, Sunday should be OK.

The river is coming down, but it’s still higher than I’m comfortable running the average group on.

High water changes everything—what’s normally a harmless branch or obstacle can become a real hazard, especially on an inner tube. That’s why these levels need to be taken seriously.

Rather than have you go to bed wondering if tomorrow is on, I wanted to give you the option tonight. We can just move your reservation to another day that works better instead of waiting to see what happens overnight.

Even if the river drops to around 1,800, that’s still a lot of water. It could also drop further to 1,500 or even 1,300. At those lower levels I’d feel good about running 18+ trips, but anything above that I’d still need to keep 18+ only and be extra cautious.

If you’d rather not go tomorrow, just text me the name on your reservation and say you want to reschedule. If you can, please try to send that text tonight or first thing tomorrow morning so I know what to expect for the day. You only need to let me know you’re not going—that’s all I need right away.

Once I’ve got that, I’ll give you about a week or so to work with me on picking a new tentative date that fits your schedule. Just keep in mind that Saturdays for the rest of the summer are already starting to fill up quite a bit, so those may be limited.

Once we confirm a new date by text, that message will serve as your reservation confirmation. If you’re requesting a refund instead, please note it may not be full and may take some time to process, but I’ll handle it as best I can.

I know this isn’t what anyone was hoping for, but I’d rather give you a heads-up now than have you show up and be turned away. I hope by doing this, I give you all the opportunity to salvage your Saturday and make it possible for you to enjoy the river another time.
