With the warm weather approaching and happy horses, lessons will be starting as soon as the snow is gone and this muck is dried up!😊

-Thinking we’re probably gonna start mid-late May depending on the weather. Please message us if you’d like to schedule a lesson!

No commitments, it can be a one time thing! If your little one doesn’t want to ride, they certainly don’t have to:)

Charlie💙

I wish I could start by telling you how Charlie is doing currently but I wouldn’t know because he hasn’t let me catch him for the last week and a half. Not even a bag of treats will do the trick. I guess one time with the saddle really put him over the edge!

Before Charlie could worry about being caught by his loving owners, he worried about WHEN those loving people would eventually come. Maybe he started out somewhere amazing, with land to run and horse friends to play with. But how did he end up in a kill pen from there?

By some miracle Charlie ended up here with us and now has his own room, a sassy girlfriend, someone to boss around, his special grain, his blankets and halters, and his permanent place on our farm❤️

As of now, Charlie is not broke to ride but we are working on it! Well…. we will resume his training when I can get a hand on his halter:) As of our first lesson together, Charlie did extremely well with the saddle and stood perfectly still to put it on. The only problem he has is weight on his back.

It may not be by the end of this summer but we have forever to go with this guy.😊

Special thanks to Bagaduce River Equine Rescue, Kelly, and Mary, for bringing this special boy to us💙

Zara (aka Zar-Zar) 💜

She was out in the pasture with a few other horses, none paying attention to her, and she walked right up to us. Friendly, loving, ready for a home, but also underweight, sick, unable to eat properly, and not loved like she should’ve been.

We don’t know where she came from. We don’t know what she’s seen in this life of hers. We don’t know how old she is. And we don’t know how she ended up here. But we do know that she has the kindest soul, and is the most willing horse you’ll ever meet.

Almost a year ago, we stopped at a sale barn in search of a trail horse for my mom. But this isn’t EXACTLY what we brought home. Since then, she has come SO far in ways that we’d never imagined.

Zara opened our eyes to lots of things that we had never experienced just owning one horse. She’s willing to do anything. And by anything, I mean anything… except have to be within 20 feet of Magic.

Her story is just getting started and there’s so much more to tell than just what will fit in a Facebook post.

Please come meet Zara and learn how to ride on her!

Midnight Magic (aka Magic)✨

In 2019, I decided that having my own horse was something I really wanted. So I got a job, earned the money, and chose Magic!

Living in a pasture on the hills of Fort Kent with her AMAZING parents and little mini sidekick… or was it her minion? Either way, she was treated like royalty and trained with every bell and whistle their was. And if i’m being completely honest, I wasn’t sure that I could handle her.

After almost 2 years Magic and I have taught each other SO much and she has influenced us to build a barn, get her some siblings,ďżźďżźďżźďżźďżźďżź and now to start riding lessons!

She IS the boss, and if her pasture mates forget it she will be sure to clue them in. With all her sass, beauty, love for people, and questionable decisions, Magic will live out her life at Hillway Farms. Where her previous owner comes to ride her weekly❤️

“Why would I want to ride a horse?” you ask

I’m here to answer with some of the benefits that come from being on and around horses!

•Horses are therapeutic animals. Maybe brushing, giving treats, or feeling yourself soar in the saddle is your natural medicine!

•All horses are different and so are all people! When you find a horse that trusts you and works best with you and your personality, the feeling is nothing short of empowering.

•When you learn to ride a horse, it’s not easy to forget. Therefore, you’ll have this skill with you forever! Not to mention it’s a great conversation starter!

Riding horses might not be for you but you’ll never know until you give it a try! Although, I will NOT force you or your child to get on a horse. The horses can sense nerves and they appreciate it when we take things slow too!
