This is my essentials pouch that I carry with me on almost all guided trips. I’ll add a protein bar and maybe a leader in there but I find that its contents are what I need the most when on a professionally guided trip and the boat bag. Anything else I bring is trip specific - flies, leaders, spare spools, clothing, etc … those are with this essentials kit. And the most important tool - the multitool and no it’s not a Leatherman but a Fox Blackfox BF-207 multitool. Best one I’ve found and trust me I own almost every single tool possible and for $40, worth to have as a backup on a trip.

Good option for the skiff beer selection - just make sure it’s ice cold. Go Canes!

Beach snook when the skiff-life needs a break. Love using a 6wt looking for these spooky shoreline snookies. That fly rod WAS this Dude’s favorite ( ) but after meeting a dock post head-on, it is no more. Time for replacement as I go South in a few weeks and revisit Snookie alley.

Redfish in the ‘glades is all about sight fishing. Snook you can blind cast the shadows of the mangroves and they will chase and hit a fly. But a redfish is all about presentation and putting that fly across their nose as they swim up. And they still might pass it up. Redfish can be as****es in other words and act like royalty. Turn their back on a well presented fly just … because. It’s a love-hate relationship.
