The next player we would like to honor for our Senior Spotlight is White Cross 17 Abby DS, #12 Hensley Crosby!

Hensley played her senior year with WCE. After graduation, she plans to attend cosmetology school at Alamance Community College in the fall! She also plans to continue working at Redefined by Living Free as the social media manager.

Age Hensley started playing volleyball: 8 years old

Hensley’s favorite WC volleyball memory: “One of my favorite memories was during our last trip to Gatlinburg when we all worked together to make our coach a gift basket. It was such a special trip because everyone grew so close and we really bonded as a team.”

Hensley’s advice to younger WCE athletes: “Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Every player grows at a different pace, and confidence makes a huge difference. Also, don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Some of the best memories and biggest improvements happen when you challenge yourself.”

Kiah’s favorite WC volleyball memory: Meeting new people and being able to connect and bond over something we all love.

Kiah’s advice for younger WCE athletes:” I would encourage younger athletes that showing up and consistency matters more than talent. Don’t compare your performance or journey to everyone else’s, focus on getting better instead of trying to constantly prove yourself to others. it is important to take care of your body and listen to it. Overall , just enjoy the process, high school sports go by fast. Make memories with teammates, appreciate the littlest moments, and don’t let one bad game define you as the player you are.”

Thank you, Kiah, for all of your energy, effort, and hard work this season! Wake Tech is lucky to have you and we can’t wait to see you excel in all you choose to do!

The next player we would like to honor for our Senior Spotlight is White Cross 17 Eric Libero, #2 Rylie Shelley!

Rylie has been playing for WCE for the past two seasons. She is going to Alamance Community College for cosmetology ( hair school). After graduating from there, Rylie’s plan is to work in a hair salon.

Age Rylie started playing volleyball: 13 years old

Rylie’s favorite WC volleyball memory: “ My favorite WC memory is probably going to Myrtle Beach this past season and having those special team dinners and team bonding moments.”

Rylie’s advice for younger WCE athletes: “Life moves so fast, so don’t take for granted a single moment you get to step on the court and play the game you love. Volleyball is just as much a mental game as it is physical, and it can be super easy to get stuck in your own head. But remember that the outcome of one bad game does not define you as a player. keep trusting yourself and your teammates, and keep working hard. Always remember to enjoy every single moment, and to never lose sight of why you started playing in the first place!”

Thank you, Rylie, for all of your energy, dedication, and hard work over the last few seasons! We know great things are ahead for you and we can’t wait to see you excel in all you choose to do!

Whether that’s blasting music in the gym, dancing between serves, or just joking around with the team.”
