This is a “Thank You” post!⁣

I would like to thank 𝗠𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 - I appreciate you!⁣

I would also like to take the time out to thank each and every one of my clients for allowing me to do something I have not done in a while - take a full week off for vacation!! ⁣

This past week was my 9th vacation in 20 years. I use to think that made me dedicated. And if Im gonna keep it 100 - I didn’t take a lot of vacations out of fear - fear that I wasn’t there for my clients.⁣

I actually did it: I actually took a week off! No checking in. No programming. Just rest.⁣

I unplugged ⁣

I rested⁣

I disappeared ⁣

All without feeling guilty………..ok, maybe a little!! ⁣

But here is what I learned. I needed it more that I realized.⁣

So, Thank you again for helping me normalize taking time off.⁣

THAT SAID: IM BACK! Vacation is over!⁣

You already know what that means……..⁣

Most athletes have a pregame default. Not a pre-performance protocol.⁣

A default is just whatever you happen to fall into. A protocol is something you built on purpose — that you can repeat identically under pressure, and that your nervous system has learned to associate with one specific state: locked in, ready, calm.⁣

Here’s why that distinction matters. Pressure narrows everything. You don’t rise to a routine you’ve never practiced — you fall back to whatever you’ve actually trained. Which means the sequence has to get built long before it’s ever needed.⁣

The new issue breaks down the 3-part pre-performance protocol I build with every athlete I coach:⁣
🔹 A physical anchor⁣
🔹 A verbal anchor⁣
🔹 A mental anchor⁣

Field hockey athletes — build this before every scrimmage this week, so it’s second nature by game one.⁣

Marathon runners — this is your pre-long-run sequence. Build it with intention now, and it’s already race-morning ready in October.⁣

Also in this issue: a new recurring feature with Brian Mitchell (2nd all-purpose yards leader in NFL history) on what “pre-game protocol” really means at the pro level.⁣

Full issue link in bio. Go build yours before your next practice or long run.⁣

Yup - It’s True - Not all athletes needs praise or validation - some just need someone who knows when to push and when to ignore.⁣

Sophie Johnson explains why generic positive reinforcement used to annoy her, but somehow Coach Kenny knew how to use the perfect blend of encouragement and quiet accountability (the infamous look, head tilt, no words) help build the confidence she didn’t know she needed, not only to get through field hockey but also into law school.⁣

A must watch for parents and coaches alike.

Strength training breaks your muscles down so they come back stronger - Sophie Johnson realized the same is true mentally. From the field to law school, this mindset shift is what carried her through!

🚨 Athletes 🚨 This PSA is for you 🚨⁣

Please understanding the demands of your sport is the expectation nobody talks about 👇⁣

Tryout week is here for fall sports. Everyone’s locked in on what their coach expects and what they expect from themselves — and yes, that matters. Without expectations, there’s no drive, no direction, no focus.⁣

But here’s the one most athletes skip: understanding the physical demands your sport requires.⁣

Know your sport’s demands so you can prepare in the off-season AND know exactly what you need to maintain DURING the season.⁣

Because the one thing you can’t afford? Neglecting your conditioning early — then not having it when you need it most, late in the season.⁣

Prepare now. Compete later. 💪⁣ Thank me later.

One of my favorite moments from this interview:⁣

This is where Mackenzie’s work with Full Throttle Fitness & Performance actually started — and she remembers EXACTLY what that first day felt like. ⁣
