What does charity look like?

Sometimes, it looks like a bag of groceries reaching a teenager who might otherwise go hungry over the weekend.

Sometimes, it looks like a pair of athletic shoes getting a second life instead of going to a landfill.

Sometimes, it looks like a parent receiving the support, encouragement, and resources they need to help a young child thrive.

This International Day of Charity, we are recognizing three organizations whose work turns everyday generosity into real, lasting impact.

Food For Neighbors helps food-insecure teens in Northern Virginia by connecting community donations directly to local middle and high schools. Their work helps ensure students have the food and basic necessities they need outside the school day.

Sneakers4Good turns used athletic shoes into opportunity. By reusing and responsibly recycling donated shoes, they help reduce waste while supporting charitable programs and communities in need.

The Community Crossing, Inc. serves people and families in McDowell County, West Virginia through early-childhood parent education, home-repair partnerships, youth programs, and neighborhood-based support.

The needs can feel big. But meaningful change often starts small: one meal, one pair of shoes, one family, one decision to care.

On September 5, take a moment to learn about a cause that matters to you. Give what you can. Volunteer if you are able. Share their work. Every act of generosity can move a community forward.

Fall Leagues begin the week of September 14 — and we need your help getting a few final divisions across the finish line! 🍂

Our fall season includes seven weeks of league play, followed by an end-of-season tournament in week eight. It is a great way to get consistent competitive matches, build chemistry with a partner, meet players at your level, and have something on the calendar each week.

A few divisions still have openings:

SAME-PARTNER DOUBLES LEAGUES

Monday Women’s 3.75+ Doubles
We need at least 3 more teams to launch, and would love to reach 8 teams.

Monday Women’s 3.5 & Below Doubles
Just 1 more team gets us to 8 teams.

Tuesday Men’s 3.75+ Doubles
We need at least 1 more team to launch, with room for up to 3 additional teams.

Tuesday Men’s 3.5 & Below Doubles
We need at least 1 more team to launch, with room for up to 3 additional teams.

Wednesday Mixed 3.75+ Doubles
We have 6 teams and are looking for 2 more to reach 8.

Looking for a true team format? Build your squad for our Team Pickleball League, beginning Sunday, September 27.

Each team includes 2 women and 2 men. Choose a captain to register the team and list the other 3 players.

Divisions are available for 3.5 & Below and 3.75+. Bring your crew, compete together, and battle for the championship!

That's a lot of hydration fueling some seriously competitive rallies. Whether you're grinding through Open Play, The Gauntlet, or a league match, staying hydrated matters, and we're glad to make it a little easier.

Never tried Open Play at Pickleballerz? Here's what to expect! 🏓

Open Play is our come-as-you-are format, no partner, no team, no pressure. Just sign up on Court Reserve, check in, and you'll be paired up with other players at your skill level.

Here's how it works at our facility:

- Sessions are organized by skill level (from beginner to advanced), so you're always matched with players around your ability
- Games rotate throughout the session, meaning you'll play with and against a variety of people, not the same opponents or partner all day
- Play to 11, once your match is done you switch with the group who's paddles are next on the rack.
- All matches are played on our climate-controlled indoor courts, so weather is never a factor
- While drop-ins are allowed, you won't be guaranteed a spot so signing up ahead secures your time on the court. Do what works best for you!
- Staff and regulars are always around to help first-timers get oriented

Why give it a try:

- It's the easiest way to meet other players and become part of the community
- Great for building consistency and getting more reps in between lessons or leagues
- Low-pressure environment to test out new shots and strategies
- A fun, social way to spend your time being active

Whether you're brand new to pickleball or just haven't made it out to Open Play yet, this is a great, easy way to jump in. Check CourtReserve for this week's sessions and skill divisions, grab your paddle, and we'll see

Big congratulations to Coach Len Rosenblum on being selected in this year’s draft for the U.S. Legends Pickleball League's new 60+ League! 🏓⚡

Lenny will be taking the court with the Gotham Flash in the league’s inaugural 60+ season, joining a roster built for high-level competition, great sportsmanship, and plenty of energy.

We’re proud to celebrate this exciting accomplishment and can’t wait to cheer Lenny on with the Flash this season. Congratulations, Lenny!

Rob has been drafted to the 2026–2027 lineup for the Northern Virginia's Supernovas Pickleball, a U.S. Legends Pickleball League senior pro team featuring some of the country's elite Champions and Masters players.
