At Impact Martial Arts, kicks and forms are only part of the journey. The real magic happens in the moments in between — when students learn to lead with kindness, show respect without being asked, and lift up the younger students who look up to them.

This season, we’ve been talking to our students about what it means to be a mentor — and realizing that the qualities we strive for on the mat are the very same ones Santa himself represents!

Martial Arts teaches perseverance. At Impact that is a pillar of our foundation. It may get hard, we may not want to train on a specific day but we show up and do it anyway. We have yet to hear I really wish I hadn’t shown up to class. Never give up there is always more!

Earning a Black Belt is about the journey and the person you become not how fast you can get there. A Black Belt understands that it will take hard work, perseverance, and discipline to earn a Black Belt.

Our Tiny Tigers answer up with “Yes I Can!” Beginners to Black Belts cringe any time they hear “I can’t,” they have learned that we can do anything if we believe and work hard. It’s not always easy and we may fail the first 10 times but the Team at Impact believes in them.

We often say an earning a Black Belts is just the beginning. Earning your Black Belt will open up so many more paths if you choose! You just have to keep walking!

As a white belt we begin with the most basic techniques, we continue to elevate the technique as the belt rank increases. We call it commonality of technique. One of our favorite class activities is having demonstrations and white belts recognizing the techniques they are working on are in a Black Belt form too.

Every belt is earned at Impact, even white a belt. Every belt has a color and meaning in the martial arts journey, one a Black Belt is truly earned does one fully understand that earning a Balck Belt is a transformation of the individual earning the Black Belt.

Every testing we remind the students to make the their white belt selves proud.
