🚨 LONG POST
This is not sparring… and most fighters do not want sparring posted on social media…
But if you want to know one of the best ways to improve your skills & build confidence it’s not hard sparring or mitts, or what most people think…
I grew and got a lot better with light contact/playful sparring where you can relax and have fun .. this also where you can learn how to relax bc that is also an acquired skill or attribute you need to be successful in not just boxing but any contact sport. It is important to do this with people who are more advanced than you and then turn around and work with someone you’re more advanced than! Like anything else learn than demonstrate….
I play all sports the same and even though they say you don’t play boxing, it’s more about some of the core principles, misdirection, managing space and distance, cutting or maintaining proper angles…
This can be done within football, basketball and boxing. Multi sport athletes and students of the game all understand this.. but every sport has and requires special training and techniques!
Boxing is all about techniques and depending on your coach those will look different.. playful/light sparing or drills like we did here allow you to work on rhythm, timing, and technique… bc of social media alot of people are under the impression they can train themselves.. and although that may be true for recreational purposes you cannot train yourself to fight competitively..or id say it’s not smart! My guy daniel here is more or less self taught and although he’s been training himself for a long time he quickly realized as I and many others have there are always levels!!
On that note I do not train fighters but I do help young men learn and build confidence..and sharpening your tools and building your physique and mental tenacity plays a huge role in that process.
