The Cornbelt Fire Protection District, located in Mahomet Illinois, is seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for full-time firefighter. Six (6) firefighters will be hired from the established eligibility list as we transition to a fully staffed engine company consisting of three (3) full-time sworn personnel per shift.

The Cornbelt Fire Protection District is a full service, customer service-focused fire department that provides, fire suppression, vehicle rescue, water rescue, hazardous materials response and advanced life support pre-hospital services and transport to a population of 18,000 residents within the Village of Mahomet and surrounding unincorporated area. Cornbelt is a combination department consisting of seven (7) full-time sworn personnel and thirty (30) paid on call personnel.

Congratulations to one of our senior members of the post.

UPDATE: Chad, Cole's dad, asked when SJO last had a State Proficiency Winner. I did some digging this afternoon. Unless the state archives are incorrect, the last SJO winner was Mike Miller in 1984, and he was only the fourth winner (and that includes SJO, Ogden, and St. Joseph)! 😳 FFA members, let's not wait another 40 years for the next State Proficiency winner!

Cole is the 2023-2024 STATE WINNER in the area of Ag Mechanics Repair & Maintenance Placement for his job at Shaff Implements! He will represent SJO, Section 17, District 4, and the State of Illinois at the NATIONAL level!
