NEVER STOP BALLING WITH THE BOYS.
It is very easy to be yourself when you get injured. You’re frustrated because you believed that by being physically active you’ve somehow made yourself immune to injury. The fact of the matter is, it’s sort of the opposite. The more active you are the more likely you’ll find some injury along the way. You only got injured because you were physically fit enough to enjoy life, play sports, climb mountains, snowboard, the list goes on. You are only able to do these things because you’ve been working hard on your health. However, that comes with a cost; and sometimes that is injury.
So what do you do? Well, you keep working. That’s about it. Switch up the game plan for a few weeks, or months. Switch from strength training to recovery and physical therapy mode. Become more aware of the risks, and learn better injury prevention skills. There’s plenty to learn and do, the most important thing to remember is to not beat yourself up for living an active lifestyle. And don’t become afraid to get back to that same place, just be better prepared. Continue to BALL WITH THE BOYS.
Also, one last note, the older you get the more you have to prepare and be careful. Sometimes the things that used to take us a week to heal may take a month or two. That’s just life baby. Get after it.
