It’s official! Welcome to the family, Walter!

Over the last several months, we’ve experienced all of the ups and downs of having an aging lesson herd. Over the winter, we said good bye to two of our long time lesson horses, and this spring we were faced with a long recovery in a third horse. When the time came for us to look for a new addition to the program, we knew we had to find a long- term fit.

Walter joined us on trial several weeks ago, and right away we were smitten. He was a keeper for sure! We knew we just had to find a way to keep him around.

We were able to purchase Walter for the program thanks to a generous sponsor- we are so grateful!

Stacey Giere, we can’t thank you enough for sending your sweet boy our way! We are so excited for the opportunity to not only develop this special young horse, but to also to have him become a key player in our lesson program as he grows.

Big thanks to Northern Ohio Dressage Association for starting the schooling show season off right!

Elizabeth Ortner took our newest addition to the program to his first show! Walter did awesome for his first time in the dressage ring and thankfully had Betsy's excellent guidance to help him through some baby moves. Very proud of them!

Marley came back to the show scene and had a great time! She took her horse Oliver through two great Training Level rides and came away with blue ribbons!!

Betsy’s student Sammy has been working hard all winter to improve her Equitation and get more comfortable at training level. She does such a good job with Kodak! He may be a school master but he makes you work for it and Sammy knows how to get him going his best!

So thankful to have a great group of clients not just at shows but at home as well ❤️

Today this world lost an amazing pony. Rosie Mai came into our program at 21 years old, but she was spunky as ever! She taught our kids so many valuable lessons through the 4 years she was with us. I'll never forget the time she literally growled at me for "trying" to tell her what to do😂 but for the kids... she would go to the end of the earth for them 🥰
Rosie Mai is why our jr program is what it is, we will forever be grateful for what she did for all of us.

Elizabeth Ortner didn't know how much she needed this little red head in her life at the time but Rm knew. Sending her home for retirement was hard... this is a whole new loss to our hearts 💔

Thank you little one, you did your job amazingly. You deserve rest now. We will see you again.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that second, there’s no room for remorse.
As they see each other…one person…one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over…together.

DB Sport Horses LLC and AA & JR DB Sport Horses LLC shared an evening with clients for our annual Holiday party!

I never could have imagined having an evening like this 13 years ago when I started all of this. Its so heart warming seeing so many people of all ages and abilities come together all for the love of horses.

You all and the horses are so special to me ❤️ this time last year felt so unknown and defeated... now we have so much to be thankful for and some really exciting changes in the near future!

Thank you to everyone who makes DB Sport Horses what it is 🥰 especially Elizabeth Ortner !

This little dog doesn't even know how lucky he is 😂 he gets a seat on my heated lap because the ground is too cold to lay on... plus he gets his own ORORO Heated Apparel dog jacket!

He's so lucky he's cute!! But I do love the little guy!

5 years ago this month this young quiet girl sent me a text asking if she could start lessons. Shortly after starting I received a text asking if she could come hang out and groom horses a few days a week. I let her know I couldn't pay her but she was always welcome to come hang and the horses loved the extra attention. I joke that she hung out long enough I had to start paying 😂
Elizabeth Ortner put in the time and energy and when the opportunity presented itself we had a long hard talk about her taking over my newly started Jr program. I could see her unlimited patience in teaching the beginners so it was a no brainer. We started with a few riders here and there and the program has just flourished!
She has taken it and turned it into a huge success, teaching up to 15 lessons a week to Jrs and AA! I am amazed at how quickly she has been able to bring her riders along and had a great group showing this past summer.
Two of her kids even came away awards of their own from the NODA Banquet. The real tell to how well her program is going is the smile on the faces of these kids as they get to the barn for their weekly lessons. They are being taught not just riding but more importantly, how to be real horsemen and women. We have kids that beg their parents to stay longer just to sweep the aisle!

I am so proud of Betsy and all the things she has accomplished these past 5 years. I can't begin to imagine what the next 5 years will hold.

Another major and deserving congratulation to Nick Nemastil for receiving the The Edy Ujczo Horse Partnership Trophy.

This is awarded to the person who provides "outstanding emotional, grooming, ground, or economic support to a NODA rider. The individual must be a tireless supporter of a rider's dressage pursuits, who is an essential
"behind the scenes" caregiver to horse and rider, offering encouragement, motivation, and assistance."

To which Nick gives his all to support me and my business. He is my true rock and without him I would be lost.

I've learned the hard way that horses and customers may come and go but Nick will be my constant always. He's gotten me through many lows but has celebrated the highs too.

He hates being in the spotlight but I appreciate Regina Sacha-Ujczo for creating this award and recognizing our unsung heros that keep us all going behind the scenes!
