What a crew…

So many kids showing up at the rink, giving it their best & chasing the dream. Super proud of all these young men & women. Can’t wait to see all they accomplish this season!

Chasing the dream all week long.

See you at the rink!

Confidently stepping into my hockey dad era now that BOTH of my kids are asking to go to the rink with me.

As someone who played ACHA, being able to play the sport at any level past youth hockey is an amazing opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing ACHA at UMass - Amherst. It was good hockey, they had a ton of resources since we had a NCAA D1 program as well, the cost was relatively low & it gave me a built in support system + group of friends as an 18 year old kid who moved 3,000 miles from home.

But, being a coach for almost 20 years now, I’ve definitely had my share of doubts & imposter syndrome. I work around a lot of pros, players with solid NCAA careers & impressive junior careers. But honestly, it’s been the ex-pro guys I’ve met/worked with who have been the coolest & most supportive of my hockey journey. While I know some hockey dads who never played a game in their lives think I’m lame for playing ACHA, some of the 10+ year NHL vets I’ve talked to have basically said “Dude, that’s so cool, ACHA is a good level of hockey & you probably had so much fun!” - I did.

Seeing kids I’ve coached for 10+ years now aging out & looking at opportunities beyond the youth hockey world, I want to remind you all that no matter what team/level you make, as long as you’re putting your best effort forward, showing up with a good attitude & being a solid teammate, that’s all that really matters. Enjoy the journey.
