Had the pleasure of spending the day on Weiss Lake with Ricky Matthews today. At 71 years old, Ricky was an absolute joy to fish with. We talked, laughed, and shared stories all day long.

The fishing wasn’t lights out, and we didn’t catch as many as we hoped, but we put together a good mess of crappie. More importantly, Ricky will be enjoying fresh crappie for supper tonight.

The main goal of today’s trip wasn’t filling the cooler—it was helping Ricky better understand LiveScope and learning where to find fish on Weiss Lake. By the end of the day, he was locating fish, understanding what he was seeing on the screen, and gaining confidence in how to approach them.

Hearing him say he was pleased with the trip and that he’d be back again made my day.

Thank you for spending the day with me, Ricky. Looking forward to the next one!

Scott and Kimberly joined me today on an electronics trip to learn more about FFS and better ways to fish the lake. They weren’t interested in Keeping any fish today so that made for an especially relaxing trip and we still caught around 40 nice Weiss lake slabs. Great day and the weather was just about perfect.
