🏆 S/O to Arlo Ellis from the small town of Van Vleck, Texas! 🏀🔥

Arlo makes the trip to Houston to train with us, and one thing I love is that his dad, Ron Ellis, continues working with him on the days he’s not in the gym with me. That’s a huge part of player development and one of the reasons he’s making great progress.

He’s only in the 3rd grade, but he’s been putting in work behind the scenes, and it showed this weekend by earning MVP honors, winning a championship, and seeing his hard work pay off.

Some people may say it’s “just youth basketball,” but moments like this matter. They help build confidence and teach young athletes that hard work gets rewarded. Those lessons can last a lifetime.

Don’t take these small victories for granted. The earlier kids learn the value of discipline, consistency, and hard work, the better.

Keep working, Arlo! This is only the beginning. 💪🏀🏆

Parents…

Talent creates opportunities off the court not the other way around.

NIL deals, sponsorships, and exposure don’t create great players. Great players create those opportunities through years of hard work, skill development, and consistent performance.

No athlete in history became elite because they got a deal. The deal came because they became elite.

Focus on development first. Everything else follows.

Too many players treat practice like a performance instead of a learning environment.

If you’re not taking risks, making mistakes, trying new moves, and getting uncomfortable, you’re not maximizing your development. Practice is where you’re supposed to fail, learn, and grow.

The players who improve the fastest aren’t afraid to mess up. They’re willing to look bad in practice so they can look great in games. 💯🏀🔥

Growth starts where comfort ends.

This workout was more about ball handling and footwork than anything else. 🏀🔥

With private training, everything is customized to the player’s needs. We identify the top areas they need to improve and build the workout around those specific goals.

Today was about getting comfortable being uncomfortable and doing things he hasn’t done before. This was actually the second half of his workout after already spending time working on ball handling and footwork, so I know he was tired. But he kept pushing, stayed locked in, and finished strong. 💯

Great job today. He’s only in middle school, so if he stays consistent, I’m excited to see his progress over time. 👀🔥

Being a sports parent is bigger than stats, rankings, scholarships, or social media highlights. Long after the games are over, kids will remember who supported them, believed in them, protected their confidence, and helped them through the ups and downs.

The goal isn’t to raise perfect athletes—it’s to raise confident, respectful, resilient young people.

A parent’s role isn’t to control every step of the journey. It’s to provide love, guidance, accountability, and stability while allowing kids to learn, fail, grow, and become independent.

The healthiest sports environments focus on development over pressure, joy over ego, and character over clout.

Everybody wanna be a point guard… but undersized guards gotta bring MORE to the table.

If you’re a small guard trying to get to the next level, these 4 things are non-negotiable:

1️⃣ Be a DOG on defense — pick up full court
2️⃣ Shoot 40% from 3
3️⃣ Get paint touches consistently
4️⃣ Be vocal — lead & communicate

Size might not be in your control… but effort, leadership, toughness, and skill is.

Which one do you think matters MOST? 👀⬇️

Two steps to developing a growth mindset:
1. Believe that you can improve with practice.
2. Prioritize effort and improvement over outcomes.
