πππππππ πππππ: The DPR #3 made the first appearance of 2026 with the Empire Super Sprints this past Saturday. We opened the year with one of the biggest events of the year for ESS, the seriesβ debut at the Port Royal Speedway. The competition was stiff, as 32 entries lined the pit area for the highly anticipated event. We had no real expectations heading into this event, as our new full-time driver Logan Crisafulli hopped behind the wheel of the #3 machine for the first time. Not only that, but it was also Loganβs first laps ever at the Port Royal as well. We hoped to log some laps and get Logan comfortable and up to speed with our equipment. Some drivers struggle at Port Royal in cars that they are comfortable in, let alone this being Loganβs debut in our car. The green flag flew on the evening, and Logan quickly went to work. During our Timed Hot Lap Session, Logan was able to tally a lap time of 17.114, which was good enough for 6th out of the 8 cars in our group. The heat races were lined up based upon hot lap times, meaning that the #3 car would be rolling off from P6, needing to advance into the Top 5 to lock into the feature. It was somewhat of an uneventful heat race, as Logan spent the majority of the heat riding in P6. The white flag waved, and Logan was closing in on the 5th place car. Knowing he needed to get that spot to lock into the feature, he was giving it all he had at that point. In Turns 3 and 4 on the final lap, Logan ripped the cushion around the top side, while the 5th place car ran a slider line. Logan had the momentum on the outside, but with the 5th place car sliding across, the two cars made contact. Logan somehow was able to keep the car straight and the pedal to the metal, as he completed the pass out of Turn 4 coming to the checkered flag to lock the #3 into the eveningβs A-Main event. During the eveningβs feature, Logan fell back a few spots early on from his original starting position of 17th. After falling as far back as 22nd, he then began moving his way back forward. By the time the checkered flag had flown, he was able to climb his way back up to his original starting spot in 17th, which is where he wound up finishing. It was an excellent result, especially considering all of the factors mentioned above. We made the show, the car was in one piece, and Logan was starting to get comfortable with our equipment by the end of the night. It was a good starting point for both sides, and we are looking forward to seeing what Logan can do behind the wheel once he gets even more comfortable and also once we get back to tracks that he has more experience at. This coming weekend looks to be a busy one for DPR, as the #3 will be at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways with ESS on Friday and Saturday night with Logan. On Sunday, Zach will be suiting up for his 2nd race of the season with CRSA at the Weedsport Speedway as well. Weβre looking forward to seeing what we can do, and we canβt wait to see you all at the track! π
