Batesville Event Falls to Weather; Next Stop June 20 at Diamond Park Speedway

BATESVILLE, Ark. — Officials with the Legends Late Model Series presented by Rush Race Gear have announced that this Saturday’s scheduled event at Batesville Motor Speedway has been cancelled due to excessive rainfall and continued wet weather conditions impacting the facility.

After several days of rain across the region and additional precipitation in the forecast, track and series officials determined that canceling the event was in the best interest of competitors, teams, fans, and staff.

“Nobody likes losing a race, especially at a place like Batesville Motor Speedway, but sometimes Mother Nature wins,” said Series Officials. “We appreciate Mooney Starr and the entire Batesville team for making the call early and allowing everyone to adjust their plans. We know our drivers and fans were looking forward to it, but we’ll turn our attention to our next event and come back stronger.”

The Legends Late Model Series will now set its sights on Saturday, June 20, when the tour heads to Diamond Park Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas for what is expected to be another exciting night of steel block late model racing.

Additional event details, payout information, and race-day schedules for the Diamond Park Speedway event will be released in the coming weeks.

LEGENDS LATE MODELS PRESENTED BY RUSH RACE GEAR HEAD TO CROWLEY’S RIDGE RACEWAY SATURDAY, MAY 16

JONESBORO, Ark. (May 12, 2026) — The 2026 season for the Legends Late Model Series presented by Rush Race Gear continues Saturday night, May 16, as the tour rolls into the always exciting Crowley’s Ridge Raceway for another showdown on the red clay of Northeast Arkansas.

Promoters Trent and Brenda Francis have continued building one of the region’s most racer and fan friendly facilities, and this weekend’s event is shaping up to be another strong night of steel block late model competition as drivers from across Arkansas and the surrounding region prepare to battle it out under the lights.

With the 2026 season continuing to build momentum, fans can expect a strong field of competitors, tight racing, and another hard-fought night of action from the Legends Late Model Series presented by Rush Race Gear teams.

Series Director Justin Newman says Crowley's Ridge Raceway has quickly become an important stop for the growing series.

“Crowley’s Ridge Raceway has become one of those places our teams really look forward to going,” Newman said. “Trent and Brenda work hard at giving racers a good facility and fans a good show, and that’s all you can ask for as a touring series. The competition level in this series right now is extremely strong, and I think fans are going to see another really competitive night of racing Saturday night.”

Drivers and teams are encouraged to arrive early as pit gates and grandstand times will follow Crowley’s Ridge Raceway’s normal weekly operating procedures.

Fans unable to attend are encouraged to follow the Legends Late Model Series presented by Rush Race Gear social media channels throughout the weekend for updates, photos, and results.

When the gates opened at Batesville Motor Speedway… the Legends showed up.

Rough track.
Tough conditions.
Didn’t matter.
They raced.

Exactly what this series is built on.

Huge thanks to Stephanie Flowers with Arkansas Sunshine Dirt Track Media for capturing the moments that don’t always show up on a stat sheet but mean everything to the people who live this.

PETTY STRIKES FIRST WITH LEGENDS LATE MODELS AT BATESVILLE

The 2026 season for the Legends Late Models presented by Rush Race Gear officially got underway Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway, and it was Chandler Petty of Cabot, Arkansas parking the #47 in Victory Lane after a hard-fought feature.

Petty started the night strong, picking up the win in Heat Race #1, while Bryan Glaze topped Heat Race #2, setting the stage for a front row showdown between the two.

At the drop of the green in the feature, Glaze wasted no time jumping to the lead. The #1 machine showed serious speed early, pacing the field for the first eight laps and beginning to stretch his advantage when he hit his marks.

But on lap nine, the race took a turn.

A caution flew for a driveshaft failure on Glaze’s car, ending his strong run and handing the lead over to Petty.

From there, the battle was on.

Petty was immediately challenged by Brandon Smith of Floral, Arkansas, as the two drivers went to war trading slide jobs corner after corner in one of the most intense stretches of racing all night. After several laps of door-to-door action, Petty secured the lead and never gave it back.

Petty drove a smooth, controlled race the rest of the way to capture the opening night victory.

“Nothing ever comes easy for this 47 team,” Petty said. “We had to change a radiator after the heat race just to make the feature. Bryan got out front early and we battled hard, but once we got the lead, the car was really good. Glad to start the season off with a win.”

Despite the early exit, Glaze remained encouraged with the performance of his car.

“We were able to get out front early and felt like we could pull away,” Glaze said. “The car was really good with the new Penske shocks from PRP Suspension. When I hit my marks, I could stay in the gas and gain ground. The track got rough, and that ended our night but there’s a lot to build on.”

A moisture-heavy, “cowboy up” racing surface tested drivers and equipment throughout the night which is something rarely seen at Batesville Motor Speedway, which is known for its smooth, raceable conditions.

That challenge made the effort behind the scenes even more notable.

“What Mooney Starr and his team were able to do this week shouldn’t go unnoticed,” said Series Director Justin Newman. “With the amount of rain this entire region has taken, they worked tirelessly to give us a surface we could race on and they were the only facility in the state able to do it. It may not have been the typical Batesville surface we’re used to, but that speaks to just how much they put into getting this race in. Our teams were able to compete, and that’s a credit to them.”
