Meet your Big Red baseball coaching staff ⚾️
Coach Daniel Hargrave
My baseball career began in Centerville where I was proud to be part of the 2018 state championship team my senior year. I then continued my career at Indian Hills Community College before finishing at Culver-Stockton College. Afterwards, I spent two years as an assistant coach at Indian Hills as well as two seasons as an assistant coach for the Big Reds. I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me and look forward to building on the tradition of this program moving forward!
Coach John Cochran
I played my high school ball for the Big Reds, graduating in the class of 2007, then went on to play in college at Indian Hills Community College, then Missouri Western State University. After my playing days, I spent one season working in the front office for the St. Joseph Mustangs (collegiate summer baseball team that ranks in the top 10 nationally for crowd attendance). I have also coached one year as the Big Red freshmen team coach, and have spent the last 4 years coaching our Middle School baseball team. I'm excited to take the knowledge gained through those baseball experiences and pour it back into the program where my baseball journey began. Right here with Big Red baseball! Go Big Reds!
Coach Juan Decena
I came to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 2003 and played high quality baseball for two years at Indian Hills Community College. In 2004, we played in the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. After college, I turned my focus to coaching youth baseball and spent several years assisting with travel baseball before joining the Centerville coaching staff in 2024. I’m entering my third year with the Big Reds and I look forward to what’s in store for this team and the future of the program.
We are looking forward to getting the season kicked off with our first open gym this week!
