Hello friends, families and gymnasts!
Jungle Gymnastics is in transition! I’ve known for quite some time that the gym was not making ends meet. I’ve had to process that and make a lot of decisions- do things I did not want to do.
There is a lot of talk that people are leaving because I’m not present and that families pay for my coaching.
Statistics. Owners that also run the business are not typically successful. Example: I own the gym, I shouldn’t be the head coach. The goal is to train someone to 85% of my capabilities.
*I have not got paid in 4 years- I work outside of the gym to pay for the gym.
* I’m spent - to the core from trying to be both the owner and the coach
Can I run a business? YES
Can I coach ? YES
BOTH? No
I feel like a failure because the build wasn’t working, no matter what angle I worked. Yes, I traversed every feasible option and I had more support than I can ever thank people for but THANK YOU.
More talk is that it’s best for me to be a head coach. - BUT, I’ve been a head coach. I opened a gym for a reason. Intentional.
I am very good at the way in which I coach because it fills a full picture. My gymnasts don’t have high rates of dropping at higher levels because the focus is on team building (with families too) and on a fun dynamic that creates success later on. It is a whole picture, it is not one aspect. I’m very sad that families are leaving - that the trust isn’t present. I’ve made the choice to be a head coach again, because, inevitably, I always do what’s best for the children. Always. I had other plans that were set in stone. I am giving up some of my dreams to give the community and your gymnasts what they need. And yes, I’m very very good at what I do.
I am truly sorry if my lack of attendance has been met with lack of trust in the process. The supervisors that I utilize are also on journeys of growth and their positions are prominent for their futures. I do what’s best for the children - all of the time. There is no exception or boundary that can be crossed that Presebts a different outcome from me and there never has been or will be. Jungle Gymnastics will close its doors in a couple months- but many of our families, all of our staff and some new faces, and me- we will be transitioning to the community center to build together in a space that can provide everything. I am excited for this new path now that it is upon us and I hope that all of you will join in this transition and join in the positive atmosphere and the success that a strong community can bring when they join forces! The community center and I align to a T with what we want to bring to the children and their families. We want to support our neurodivergent athletes and feed gymnasts into a strong HighSchool team. We get to do this journey together!! Feel the joy and remember to thank those that brought us here!
That is… all of you- the community center - families, gymnasts, staff - go go go chisago lakes community!
