As we wrap up another incredible Governors Cup Regatta, I want to take a moment to recognize the people who make this event possible.
To our race committee — thank you. While many people only see the excitement on race weekend, what they don’t see are the countless hours, meetings, phone calls, planning sessions, and problem-solving that take place for well over a year leading up to the event. This race doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of a dedicated group of individuals who pour their hearts into making sure every detail is accounted for. Your commitment, passion, and willingness to give so much of your time to this community and this event is truly remarkable. The success of this weekend is a direct reflection of the work you’ve put in behind the scenes.
To our sponsors — thank you for your generosity and unwavering support. Events of this size simply would not be possible without businesses and organizations willing to invest in our community and in the tradition of the Governors Cup Regatta. Your contributions help provide the resources needed to put on a first-class event and create an unforgettable experience for racers and fans alike. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and your belief in what this event means to our community.
To our drivers, crews, and racing teams — thank you for traveling from near and far to be a part of the Governors Cup Regatta. We know the time, effort, and expense that goes into competing, and we are incredibly grateful that you chose to spend your weekend with us. Thank you for believing in our vision, buying into what we wanted this event to be, and helping us create something truly special. Your professionalism, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport are what make this event worth celebrating. We hope the experience you had here reflects the hard work that went into making this one of the premier stops on the racing circuit.
To our crane operators — thank you for the long hours, precision, patience, and hard work. You are often the first to arrive and the last to leave, and your efforts keep everything moving safely and efficiently throughout the weekend. We simply could not put on this event without you.
To our pit bosses — thank you for your leadership, organization, and dedication. The countless decisions you make behind the scenes ensure that teams, crews, and racers have what they need to compete. Your commitment to keeping everything running smoothly never goes unnoticed.
To the APBA, thank you for your continued support of hydroplane racing and for helping make events like the Governors Cup possible year after year. Your dedication to the sport allows communities like ours to showcase the excitement, tradition, and passion that make boat racing so special.
To every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and effort this weekend — thank you. Whether you worked for a few hours or all weekend long, your willingness to step up and help is what keeps this event alive. So much of what happens throughout the regatta is the direct result of volunteers who care deeply about this community and this race.
To our tractor drivers — thank you for being ready whenever and wherever you’re needed. Your work may not always be in the spotlight, but it is absolutely essential to keeping the event operating safely and efficiently. We appreciate every mile driven and every boat moved.
And finally, to our amazing community — thank you. Thank you for showing up, supporting the racers, volunteering your time, supporting local businesses, and embracing this event year after year. The Governors Cup is more than just a boat race; it’s a tradition that brings people together. The energy, hospitality, and pride that our community shows each year is what makes this event one of the most special stops on the racing circuit.
This event is built on teamwork, dedication, and a shared love for our community and the sport of hydroplane racing. From the race committee that spends more than a year preparing for this weekend, to our sponsors, volunteers, officials, crews, drivers, and fans, every single person plays a role in making this event what it is.
Thank you all for making this year’s Governors Cup Regatta such a tremendous success. We couldn’t do it without you, and we’re already looking forward to seeing everyone back on Grand Lake next year.
