📢 ATTENTION MEMBERS: IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING THE FUTURE OF OUR CLUB 📢

You should have recently received a mailing regarding a proposed change to our club’s constitution—specifically, opening our membership to individuals outside of Mercer County.

Change is never easy, especially when honoring a proud 70+ year tradition. However, the Board of Trustees wanted to share the vital "why" behind this recommendation, as our primary duty is ensuring the long-term financial health and survival of our club.

📉 The Reality of Our Numbers:
Over the last two years, we have experienced a significant decline, losing approximately 100 members. This brings our current total to 473 members.

While our Life, working, and honorary memberships have remained stable, it is our core dues-paying membership that is shrinking (now down to 409). In an era where the cost of everything is rising, relying strictly on a declining local pool is no longer sustainable. Dues are our main income source, and we must adapt to keep our facility running.

🛡️ A Controlled, Protective Approach:
We are not throwing the doors wide open. To protect the integrity of the club, we have established strict guardrails:

Strict Cap: Out-of-county memberships will be strictly capped at 100 members for the first year, evaluated annually.

No Voting Rights: Out-of-towners (and their spouses) will have full use of the facilities, but they cannot vote or hold office. Governance stays firmly in the hands of Mercer County residents.

🚨 WHY WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP AND VOTE:
For a constitutional change to pass, we need more than just your quiet agreement—we need your vote!

Historically, those who oppose a change are the most motivated to show up, while those who support it tend to stay home assuming it will pass anyway. If you agree that protecting the club’s financial future is important, please do not sit this one out. A "no" vote locks us into a dwindling budget, but staying home does the exact same thing.

Please join us to cast your vote and secure our next 70 years:
🗓️ Date: Sunday July 19
⏰ Time: Meeting 4:00, Socializing 3-4
📍 Location: Clubhouse

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to message us here, contact me directly, or speak with any of our Trustees. Thank you for your continued support!

We will have a large scout group using parts of the club grounds this Thursday thru Saturday. The following areas will be closed: The archery field, the pistol range, the camping area the catch and release pond and clubhouse. If you are using the other areas please be mindful of the young cub scouts. One of our core philosophies is getting the youth outdoors and learning life skills. Thank you for understanding.
