CHAMPS! 🏆 Grand Lake Mariners 16U Dominate the Best of Ohio – Ohio Valley Invite

Our Grand Lake Mariners 16U squad came into Dayton ready to make a statement, and we delivered. With five wins across four days, we not only went undefeated in tournament play, but walked away as champions, improving our season record to 8-1.
Here’s how it went down:
⚾ Game 1: Shutout Statement
We opened strong with an 8-0 win over Next Level Ohio Red. Triplett was on fire, driving in four runs. Schulte-Arnold, and Triplett combined for a huge five-run fourth inning. Tidwell dominated on the mound with five shutout innings and six strikeouts.
⚾ Game 2: Survived and Conquered
In a Friday nail-biter, we edged out Kentucky Platinum 16U 7-6. Early blasts by Tidwell and a 2-run homer by Bassinger set the tone. Triplett closed it out for the save after key RBIs by Hughes and Bassinger. Grit and composure sealed the win.
⚾ Game 3: Bassinger Brings the Heat
Saturday was all about dominance, with Bassinger throwing a 6-inning, 11-strikeout, 1-hit shutout in a 9-0 victory over Indiana Venom. Our bats exploded with 15 hits, led by May and Triplett, each with 3 hits, and 2 RBIs from Schulte-Arnold.
⚾ Game 4: Late-Inning Heroics
Tied 4-4 late against P413 Baseball, Parker stepped up with a clutch 2-RBI single in the sixth to give us a 6-4 win. Houser went six strong innings, allowing zero earned runs. Burden locked it down for the save. Team effort. Big-time poise.
⚾ Game 5: Sealing the Championship
We closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win over T3 Warhawks Mendoza. Bassinger stayed hot with 3 RBIs, and Burden shut things down on the mound with five scoreless innings. Tidwell and Dues added to the offensive punch, each with multiple hits.
