Slow days are great when bass fishing. Normally my favorite go to lured are jerk baits and rattle traps. 9 times out if ten I'm throwing those two baits. This morning was a slow day fishing from the bank. I had a few bites and fewer hookups but I didn't land a single fish. The best thing to do on a slow day is select a new bait and and master it's presentation. I chose a Berkeley max-scent flat nose jerk shad and went to work. Wouldn't you know it I ended up catching 6 bass and am now more likely to throw a new bait on my next trip. Slow days are for learning

Confidence is the best lure your tackle box. When you have confidence in your bait you tend to slow down and focus on your presentation and retrieve speed. Everyone has that one favorite bait in your box that seems to catch the most fish. It's not the lure, it's your confidence and how you work it. On slow days when you are ready to go home it only takes one bite to turn your day around.

Share your favorite fishing picture. This one's is mine. It was one of the last pictures put on the wall at the bait shop that was across the road from the lock and dam. This picture is important to me because my daughter had caught two nice crappie and they put the picture on the wall next to a picture of my grand dad with some nice crappie. My biggest goals in life are to be a great father and connect people to the great outdoors. Your next fishing trip could be you or kids best memory. What's your fishing story? It's never to late to make one.
