Belt Promotion — Round 2! 🥋⚔️

More new belts were awarded at Wednesday night’s class!

Congratulations to Jessica, who is now a brown belt, and Tyler, who is now an orange belt! 🎉

Both did a great job during belt testing last Saturday, demonstrating the forms, techniques, and knowledge required to advance. Wednesday night made it official as they received their new belts and began the next stage of their Kumdo training.

A new belt celebrates how far you’ve come — and opens the door to everything you get to learn next.

Belt Testing & Promotion — Round 1 🥋⚔️

Monday night brought a little bit of everything to the dojang — make-up belt testing followed by the first round of belt promotions!

After successfully demonstrating their forms, sparring techniques, strikes, and knowledge, these students were ready to take the next step in their Kumdo journey.

Belt Testing Weekend is Almost Here! 🥋⚔️

The final preparations are underway as our students get ready for belt testing this weekend!

This week, training is all about bringing everything together — running through forms, refining strikes and block/attack combinations, practicing sparring techniques, and reviewing Korean terminology, history, and knowledge required for each belt level.

Belt testing is an opportunity for students to demonstrate how much they’ve learned since their last promotion. The preparation happens over months, but these final classes are about polishing the details, building confidence, and making sure they’re ready to step onto the floor.

The countdown is on. Good luck to everyone testing this weekend — all that training is about to pay off! 💪⚔️

Last weekend, our students and Master Bahan took to the competition floor at the Iowa Games, representing Mireu Kumdo Cedar Rapids in the Weapons Division.

Arthur and Master Bahan showcased their sword forms with precision and control, while Joe made an exciting debut with a Kanabō form, introducing a new weapon to his competition repertoire.

We’re proud of the focus, dedication, and sportsmanship each competitor demonstrated throughout the event. Competing takes courage, and every performance reflects the hours of practice that happen long before tournament day.

Congratulations to everyone who competed and placed in their divisions! Your hard work continues to make our dojang proud. 🥋⚔️👏

Monday night was Belt Promotion Night, one of the most meaningful traditions in our school.

After successfully completing their belt tests, students gathered to receive their new belts and celebrate the hard work that brought them to this moment. Each promotion represents months of practice, perseverance, and growth — both on and off the training floor.

A new belt is more than a new color around the waist. It marks the completion of one chapter and the beginning of the next. New forms to learn. New techniques to master. New goals to pursue.

Congratulations to all of our newly promoted students! We are proud of what you have accomplished and excited to see where your Kumdo journey takes you next. 👏🥋⚔️
