Race day recap:
Friday night was all practice worked on learning the track and trusting the tires. We got better and better every time out.
Saturday started of decent qualified 6th. Had about a 3ish hr break due to storms luckily they stayed away after and we were able to race. In the feature I finished 7th and had my fastest time ever.

I would love to give a huge thanks to my dad and the wolfes for all the help they day of and to my grandpa for help setting the kart up. Also a huge thank you to my sponsors I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without yall

It was a good night at Lightning Speedway in Fountain City. It feels good to be back close to home. Since we had kart issues on practice night, Mattie had to figure out the track on race night. Dad and grandpa dialed in the kart, Mattie Gilbertson found her groove and brought home the win. This is a nice little track next to the big MTS track and we hope to grow these classes so we have a place to race weekly.

Saturday was Day 2 at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids Iowa and it was a great day. Mattie raced so hard and battled and didn't give up. She finished 4th in one feature and placed 3rd in the big race where she had qualified 2nd. Her and another racer battled between 3rd and 4th the whole race and she beat him out at the end. It was nice to see her on the podium and win some money. This week will be all about getting the flat kart ready for our first race next Friday night at Lightning Speedway in Fountain City.
(I forgot my camera so the pictures aren't great. Also there's another kart similar to hers so I put captions on the photos to help)
