Most of the time people will pick up a new workout routine in hopes of losing a few pounds or adding more muscle definition to their body. There is never a bad reason to start strength training, but many times people forget about the changes that are not as obvious on the outside. Improvements to bone health, stress reduction effects and cognitive benefits from strength training are beneficial for all, but especially for those noticing more problems arise with age. Marley has gathered the most up-to-date data from the National Strength and Conditioning Association to showcase how important it is that you start strength training now when time is on your side! Today's Movement Tip Monday is all about warm-ups! Before your workout, run, or next game of golf, make sure you take a few extra minutes to get your body temperature up and prepare yourself for the activity you are about to do. Marley demonstrates a quick dynamic warm-up with the following movments: Lunge with a twist, lateral squat, alternating hamstring stretch, alternating scorpion stretch, and mountain climber with a twist. Try 5-8 reps of each of these movements the next time you need a warm-up!
