We are living in an incredibly polarized time, in our nation and world.
We are all deeply shaken. In shock.
Regardless of one's political affiliation there is no room for violence and we must reject it in all forms.
May we be in prayer for God to intervene in the cycle of violence and division that is prevalent among us.
May we pray for the families of those who were killed. May we pray for the former president and his recovery. May we pray for all those who were harmed and impacted.
May we be in prayer for our community and world - and how quickly we can be filled with contempt and we lament the division and violence among us.
The days, weeks and months ahead are precarious. This Fall, our pastoral team will be leading us through a sermon series called Reconcile: Turning Toward God and One Another. Our prayer is that this series can guide us to once again come together, to listen, to see the image of God in one another, to be reminded that all people are Gods Beloved.
Today and each day ahead, may we recommit to the way of Jesus, the way of love, the path of peace.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Amen.
