We are getting the band back together! Starting with the 2024 season, IKA and IYAK are merging to create a new club. The new organization will be called Iowa Kayak Fishing Club, which will continue to focus on providing quality tournaments for our anglers. Casey and Clay will serve as co-Tournament Directors, running IKFC.

More details to come in the next few weeks on next season’s schedule, how in-person and online tournaments will work, and club membership details.

Congratulations to Joe Bailey for winning the 2023 Angler of the Year title and the cash prize. Joe had a monster of a weekend on Brushy, which allowed him to overcome the 2-point difference that Tyler had from Boji. He ended the race with 489 points.

Tyler Cole was our runner-up, five points behind Joe, with 484 points.

Tim Gurley rounded out our top three with 466 points.

Our 2023 season ended with a hard-fought battle the last two days on Brushy Creek. The two-day Championship sponsored by Delgado Electric saw over most of the field with over 140 inches.

After being in second yesterday, Gary Stephens had another solid day, 73.75", for a two-day total of 157.50", earning third place and $100.

Zak Harbach took second place after putting in 80.75" on Day 2 for a grand total of 163.50", winning $200.

With a bigger second-day total than his first day with 86.25”, including the 21” Mystery Tackle Box Big Bass, Joe Bailey won with a two-day total of 171.75", taking home $450.

It was a grueling day one for our anglers out on Brushy for the 2023 Championship sponsored by Delgado Electric. There are seven limits on the board, and our top five are all over 80 inches. We have some stiff competition going into Day Two as the difference between first and fifth place is less than 3 inches.

Zak Harbach is in fifth with 82.75”.
Jordan Westerman is holding fourth place with 83”.
Casey Day is defending third with 83”, breaking the tie with the biggest fish of the day (19.75”).
Gary Stephens, our Online Series winner, is claiming second place, beating Jordan and Casey by .75”.
Joe Biley is leading after Day 1 with 85.5”.

With another day of fishing, anything can happen. Tune in tomorrow to see who claims the 2023 Championship win.
