Dwayne and I had the opportunity to fish the first event of the Redfish Madness 2021 series on Saturday, June 12th in Swansboro. A very well-run event! The work Michael Mattice and his team put into these events is extraordinary!

We finished in 18th place with a weight of 11.18 lbs. That's not a typo, a NC tournament where 11.18 lbs gets you 18th. Just goes to show how good our fishery is, and how good the competitors are in the state. 48 out of 55 teams weighed fish.

I'd like to thank Performance East, PointClickFish.com, PowerPole, Finz Superbraids, Blazer Bay, Mercury, and Echelon Designs for their support (Tommy Parkin, those shirts look great!).

Been busy with work, and forgot to post our latest update.

Wesley Butler filled in for Dwayne on Aug 29th at the John Willard Dudley Redfish Open, the 3rd and final event of the Redfish Madness Series.

Strong winds and a midday low tide made fishing tough, but we managed a 6th place finish with 7.95 lbs and ended up in 4th place in the overall standings for the year. We tied in overall points for 4th with Jake Gainey and Jerry Burns, but our total weight for the season put us just ahead of them. Those guys are tough competitors and fished a great season this year.

We caught 13 fish on the day, and fished a perfect tournament, meaning every fish we hooked, we put in the boat. Wes did an incredible job yesterday and I can't thank him enough.

Michael Mattice has put together an awesome tournament series and he and his team have created something special. Can't wait to fish the series again next year!

Just want to give a shout out to Todd Willis and Neuse River Bait & Tackle for providing us with custom-made puppy drum rigs. These are 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 oz.

They work great! The circle hook gets them in the corner of the mouth. And they don't come loose, as long as there's tension on the line!

And thanks for their support of the Redfish Madness series!
