Small adjustment. Big difference.

This is Megan — 4 years at MAD and still finding ways to level up ⚽️
As a center defender for her high school team, this exact pattern shows up all the time — opening up, tracking back, and covering space behind her.

Coach Tim breaks down what he’s seeing and how a small adjustment helps Megan transition faster from a shuffle into a sprint.

Swipe through and watch the details:
From rep 1 to rep 3, she gets sharper just by improving her shin angle.

That angle = better force into the ground → faster, more efficient acceleration when it matters most.

Mechanics first. Then we layer on intensity.

Back to the basics—with intention.

This edition of Train with Tim focuses on single-leg strength, control, and core stability—things that carry over whether you’re in the gym, on the field, or just moving through daily life.

All you need:
• 1 heavy dumbbell
• sliders (or a towel + slick floor)

The work:

Slide Single Leg Squat
Split Stance Row
Single Arm DB March
Dumbbell Handwalk March

4 sets • 5–8 reps each side

Focus less on rushing through it—and more on control, balance, and quality reps.

If you try it, let us know how it feels 👇

Post–daylight savings STILL got your sleep schedule acting… ✨questionable✨?

Coach Tim’s here to help you actually fix it 👇
Small changes = big recovery wins.

😴 Sleep optimization tips:
• Dim/kill overhead lights ~90 mins before bed
• Start bringing the volume down (yes, TV + phone too)
• Blackout curtains = deeper sleep, less disruption
• Use simple aids like earplugs + white noise for a consistent environment

Better sleep = better workouts, better energy, better everything. This is where progress actually starts.

👉 Want the full breakdown? We’ve got a FREE Sleep Optimization Guide on the MAD Training website (mentioned in the video). It goes way deeper into building a routine that sticks.

Train hard. Recover smarter.

Post-spring break reset…but your energy is still on airplane mode ✈️😴

Between daylight savings earlier this month and spring break, if you’re still trying to feel like a normal human again—you’re not alone.

That’s exactly why we put this together:
A simple, low-energy workout you can do entirely on your back (all in one video 👇)

✔️ 6 exercises
✔️ 1 dumbbell
✔️ minimal willpower required

Workout:
• 4 rounds
• 8–10 reps each exercise
• Rest as needed between

No pressure, no overthinking—just a way to get moving again and build momentum

And yes…Coach Rue 🐶 makes a very important appearance near the end (honestly steals the show)

Save this for later or send it to someone who’s also still recovering 😅

What’s up guys! I just want to take a quick second to say hello to everyone, introduce ourselves and welcome you to MAD Training!

We are a personal training studio for both youth athletes looking to improve their sports performance and adults looking to get fitter and stronger!

I am the owner, and director of training. I’ve been a trainer for over 20 years and started MAD Training in 2011 with the goal of helping people of all shapes and sizes move and feel better! I love my wife Terrie, soccer, deadlifts, and our pug Rue! When I’m not in the gym you can find me either watching Chelsea FC, out for a run, or at the driving range working on my golf game!

Coach Alex Woodson is up next! Alex’s passion for soccer is what led her into health and fitness. Her love for coaching is fueled by her relationships with her clients. Outside of the gym, Alex enjoys strength training, pickleball, sand volleyball and staying active with her husband Woody and daughter Andie.

Next up is Coach Ari Cu***ng. Inspired by her father, Ari is passionate about helping others improve their quality of life through movement. With a second-degree black belt in taekwondo, Ari brings a lifelong commitment to fitness in her training style.

Last, but certainly not least is Coach Frank Reyes! .reyes_ has been involved with sports since high school and fell in love with the science behind what made athletes so great. Since then he has had the privilege to help individuals reach their healthiest self and athletes push their physical capabilities. During his free time, Frank enjoys training for triathlons or running events, lifting weights, bouldering, reading/listening to philosophy books, or seeking out the next outdoor adventure with friends.

We just want to say thanks so much for being here as helping others get the best out of their bodies and their lives is what we’re all about!

Starting something new can feel intimidating—especially running 🏃‍♀️

Anne is one of our longest-tenured clients, and she recently decided to give running a shot. We asked her a few quick questions about what got her started, what surprised her most, and how training helped her feel more confident taking that first step.

No pressure. No expectations.
Just building confidence, one rep (and one run) at a time.

If you’ve been on the fence about trying something new, this one’s for you. 💬
