AJVsand AJV Sand trains year round! 12 weeks in the Summer, 8 weeks in the Fall, a 6 week program for Winter, & a 10 week club training program in the Spring.

AJV Sand is now year round! Our main 12 week program is still offered in the summer, but we are happy to offer an 10 week program in Fall, an 8 week program in Winter and two 5 week club training progrm in the Spring . Athletes can train once to twice a week while competing in a variety of tournaments locally and around Texas. Tryouts/Evaluations occur for the Summer Club Program, but not for Fall

, Winter, or Spring. You do not need a partner but can tryout or sign up with one. Training will be offered both North (ASC Sand Complex) and South (Zilker and Aussies) for Summer to accommodate every athlete. We welcome all male and female athletes, as well as all AJV indoor and non AJV athletes to compete with AJV Sand. Emphasis on individual and team ball control as well as strength and conditioning will be included. Training will be led by AVP and FIVB beach professional Ashley Ivy. Ashley began her career at Stanford University where she won a NCAA national championship. After much success at the indoor level she transitioned to the beach to find herself competing on the USA Beach National Team. We are excited for her to be running the sand program at Austin Juniors as sand continues to grow as a NCAA scholarship sport.

I’m most excited for meeting my teammates and living on the beach!

What are you going to miss the most about AJV Sand?
I am going to miss all of my coaches and my teammates always making me laugh!

What advice do you have for your younger self?
My advice would be to always do your best and that’s all you can do.

What is your favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete?
my favorite thing about beach volleyball is being outside and playing with my best friends!

What are you most excited about for college?
I’m so excited to start fresh in a new area, and grow to my fullest potential!

What are you going to miss the most about AJV Sand?
I’m going to miss the players and coaches so much! It was truly the most positive environment I’ve experienced in club volleyball, and I’ll miss it very much.

What advice do you have for your younger self?
Don’t be scared to make choices for yourself that feels right regardless of what society is pushing on you. Be you, because only you know you.

What is your favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete?
My favorite part of being a beach volleyball athlete is the opportunity to become the best player you can be. With an open court and only two players, there’s endless room to grow, compete, and push yourself.

my favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete is the atmosphere. It is so different from an indoor setting, it is independent, personal, and you have to be able to adapt to many challenges.

I am most excited about getting to grow as a player and person while also making new friends.

I am going to miss the people, great coaches, and the culture that AJV brings to every individual on the team.

What advice do you have for your younger self?
I would tell my younger self and younger athletes to not compare your experience to other people. Everyone’s story is different, and focusing on your own progress and accomplishments while remembering that not everything will go your way is crucial.

What is your favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete?
My favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete is getting to play at the beach, outside, and in the sun (sometimes) while also playing in a chill, competitive environment.

I’m going to miss the people at AJV the most. My teammates, coaches, and just the environment overall.

what advice do you have for your younger self?
Advice I would give to my younger self is to not overthink everything and just enjoy the process. Trust yourself, stay consistent, and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s.

What is your favorite thing about being a Beach Volleyball athlete?
My favorite thing about being a beach volleyball athlete is that you can be creative with shots and strategy instead of just sticking to a system.
