It’s been hot this week even up high in the mountains, and it’s a good reminder of why I created the Ponderosa Polar Challenge.
Over the years I’ve had a few ultramarathon DNFs, and each one came down to overheating. Heat can turn a great race into a survival exercise, no matter how prepared you are.
That’s why our race near Zion at the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is held when daytime temperatures are typically in the 50s and 60s, with nights dipping just below freezing. The “Polar” in Ponderosa Polar Challenge isn’t just a fun name. It’s part of the experience.
Instead of worrying about heat exhaustion, you can focus on the trail, the miles, and discovering just how far you can go. And with our generous 52-hour cutoff, you’ll have the time to chase your goals, whether that’s your first ultra or your next big milestone.
Come join us this November and experience what cooler conditions can do for your race.
