The 9s took to the road this weekend and headed up to Thunder Hill Speedway to attend AJC Nationals.

As usual, the day started out a bit wet from the heavy 🌧 from the day before...never having been to this track, took a bit for the 9s to find the groove.

Last Feature of the day, Pro Stock Medium Qualified 4th and finished 3rd! 🏁 After the last few race weekends, it was nice to finally put all the pieces together and have a solid finish!

Finished off the Maxxis Midwest series yesterday at Cedar Lake Arena Kart Racing. The 9s had an up and down day, in the end we learned some things to make us better for the next one!

Stock Heavy 👉 Qualified 5th, brought it home 5th after a carnage filled race.

Stock Heavy Prelude 👉 Qualified 7th, got shuffled to 12th but driver made calculated passes and crossed the 🏁 in 7th.

Pro Stock Heavy 👉 Qualified 5th, missed on tires...dropped all the way to the back (20th), battled back to Finish 13th.

Up Next, not really sure... school and XC start for the 9s tomorrow.

The 9s has parked it at Cedar Lake Arena Kart Racing for the 4th leg of the Maxxis Midwest series!

Completed practice tonight and feel like we have it dialed in for tomorrow. 3 classes on tap 👉 Stock Heavy, Stock Heavy Prelude and Pro Stock Heavy.

Weekend Recap - Maxxis Midwest #3 @ University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD.

Kart racing is a humbling sport and quite frequently makes you question everything you know. This past weekend was one of those weekends, nothing went right no matter what we tried.

As Rory famously said during the Scottish Open a few weeks back "I am so bad at golf", we walked away from Brookings uttering something very similar about racing.

Stock Heavy - Qualified 17th, only 16 made the A so to the B we went, had a transfer spot but got passed on the last lap.

Stock Heavy Prelude - Qualified 11th, kart got tight in 1st 4 laps... driver pulled off as it wouldn't turn, frustrated.

Pro Stock Heavy - Qualified 18th, didn't make the show. Out of tire options, we didn't run the B and loaded up.

Congrats to Kyle Manderfeld and his Waller powered PRC Tricon for a dominating performance - lights out!

The 9s will have a new look going into the 3rd leg of the Maxxis Midwest series race at UPS in Brookings this weekend! 1st new body and wrap in a while, hopefully we can park it in victory lane! 🏁🏁

Currently, the 9s is 3rd in the points standings for the Adult Pro Class after a solid run in Newton last month, need a couple top finishes over the final 2 events (Brookings & Cedar Lake) to have a shot at the leather jacket!

I was literally typing "Sometimes the journey home is better than the destination" and we hit a deer an hour from home. Uggh....everyone is safe, the trailer and race gear is all good. The truck...gonna need a bit of care.

Praises for God's safety as we had to yell "DEER" 3 additional times and brake hard.

Kee Kart...well not so sure. We will see how this goes. But NW Iowa... you have always had our heart. Welcome home 9s Regan Scholten Racing.

A few days on the farm before racing is so good for our souls. Thank you God for rest.

The 9s went to University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD this past weekend to attend the 2nd leg of the AJC Mid America Series!

Unfortunately, our weekend can be summed up in a couple pictures. Luck was not on our side, while we had good results and had the speed to win quite a few races, it just wasn't meant to be.

Friday
Light - Q1 ➡️ P2
Pro Light - Q4 ➡️ P2
Heavy - Q10 ➡️ P6
Pro Heavy - Q6 ➡️ P7

Saturday
Light - Q4 ➡️ P3
Pro Light - Q9 ➡️ P6
Heavy - Q9 ➡️ DNF (engine coil failed)
Pro Heavy - Q2 ➡️ P6
The Ironman - Q3 ➡️ DNF

The Ironman was a 50 lap finishing feature, the 9s ran in the top 5 for the 1st 20 and then had to pull off. Early in the race, got tangled up with a couple other karts which caused the chain guard to bend eventually seizing up the rear axle. Honestly not sure how it even made 20 laps.

Very few people get to do what they love the most alongside the person they look up to the most....Their Dad.

He is not only the crew chief but the person I want to grow to be like more than anyone. He loves Jesus, works tirelessly for all of us, and makes sure I get to live out this passion.

But mostly, we get to do this together making memories that many never get to experience. All the miles, all the talks (even the tough ones), and all the wins (and the losses) are sweeter because they are with you.

The 9s went to Newton Kart Klub this weekend to attend the second leg of the Maxxis Midwest series. Our goal was to avoid 🌧, improve on the results from the last race and be in the top 5 of the pro race!

Unloaded Friday night for practice and felt good with the kart each time out. Speed was there and the driver was comfortable with the balance. Newton is a fast but tricky track, one that the 9s has had a lot of success at in the past!

Saturday started early, 9am practice with the dreaded 🌧 in the forecast! 🤨 28 Adults registered, solid talent in the field and 3 features to race.

👉 Stock Heavy - Qualified 15th, barely made the Main due to the wrong tire choice. Unfortunately, we were not able to run this feature and improve our position due to weather.

👉 Stock Heavy Prelude - Qualified 11th, would've been better but we were the 2nd group on the track after a rain shower and the track was still pretty green. Driver made a pretty large error in the Feature, went back to 19th and was only able to get back to 11th.

👉 Pro Stock Heavy - Qualified 4th! The feature was a great race. The 9s ran a very calculated race and had the speed to compete for the win but just couldn't get by 2nd, basically ran on the 521s bumper the whole race. Came across the 🏁 in 3rd.

All in all, it was a fun day. Now to get all the wet stuff out of the trailer so it can dry.
