The 2026 points season is behind us, and in typical fashion, troubles plagued us again this year with both cars. Despite engine issues with the big car, we finished in the 4th spot in points! We did have a great season racing at Cedar Falls for points for the first time in our career. We made two perfect passes and won our first Super Pro race over there and went deep into the field multiple times. Definitely nothing to hang our heads about for sure! We knew it would be a learning curve as they have some of the best racers over there and the racing is tighter than ever! Saturday, Tom and his opponent were both .005 at the tree and Tom went 4.889 off a 4.87 dial and the other guy was 4.317 off a 4.30 for a MOV for the other guy of just .0021. That’s just how the racing is over there!! But I am proud of Tom and how we have raced over there for the entire year! The engine change kind of threw a monkey wrench into things but we had to try to stay in 3rd in points, which we lost out of by 10 points, but still dang proud of my brother!
Deklin had a really good year in the junior class over there, finishing 5th in points, despite missing 3 events due to travel baseball games. I was more nervous about the junior dragster class and being accepted over there than I was with the big car, but everyone there from the racers to parents are great people and willing to pitch into help whenever needed and some of them
have helped me a lot over the year! It’s awesome to see the boys all hanging out at night after the races and all the wonderful sportsmanship displayed at both ends of the track! While Dek only made one final this year, we struggled with the little motor this year with carburetor issues and just not having a consistent set up. Next year he gets to move up to the 8.90 category and we already have a brand new 8.90 combo being built and will arrive this winter to get installed on the Mike Bos chassis. I am more than happy to get rid of that 11.90 stuff lol!
All in all we had a pretty good year for Team SFR. If we could get the engine woes figured out so we can race a full year without ANY engine issues, that would be a huge step! Collectively, Tom and I will discuss what we should do engine wise and what direction we will go from here. We appreciate everyones support! We have one more race left in a couple weeks at Tri State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa for the NHRA Team Finals where Tom will be racing for Team CFMP in the Super Pro class. I love that track and atmosphere over there!
As always, a huge thanks to Matt, Di, Zade and Kazara Swanson for their friendship and support all year! We had a wonderful time all year with you all!

I will post more from team finals in a couple weeks, until then…..Keep ‘er in the groove-Steve
