MUDHENS SEASON COMES TO AN END

Number one seed Bonduel’s pitching was just too much to overcome as the Broncos shut out the Mudhens 5-0.

Bonduel’s Jett Thielke pitched seven innings of no hit ball to lead the Broncos. Noah Beilfuss started for the Mudhen’s and held the Bronco’s in check allowing five runs on six hits while walking four. Mason Meverden threw the final two innings.

Cecil’s lone hit came off of the bat of Trace Brehmer.

Cecil ends it’s season at 10-8 in Dairyland league play as they hosted their first home playoff game, in many years, by finishing fourth out of ten teams. Along with advancing to the league tournament semifinals, were also the winners of the Shawano Lobos Tournament this summer.

It’s Gameday.

Today the Mudhens continue their journey into the Dairyland League tournament as they travel to Bonduel to play the number 1 seeded Broncos. The winner will move on to the Grand Championship game next Sunday. First pitch is at 1:30 at Jack Reinke Field. Cya there, GO HENS!

MUDHENS ADVANCE TO SEMI FINALS

Noah Beilfuss took a no hitter into the ninth inning against the Navarino Rangers and hung on as Navarino rallied for a 5-3 victory.

Beilfuss allowed four hits, three runs, and struck out seven while going 3-5 at the plate with an RBI in a complete game performance.

Not to be overshadowed, Trace Brehmer was 4-4 with two RBI’s for the Mudhens. They would amass a total of 12 hits as a team against a trio of Ranger pitchers.

Cecil would open the scoring in the third inning. Brehmer would open the inning with a single to right field. After a Reece Stoltenow sacrifice bunt, Beilfuss singled to left to make it 1-0.

In their half of the fourth they would add another. Isaac Bolt would lead off with a single up the center. Mason Zuleger would sacrifice bunt to advance Boldt to second and Brehmer would single to make it 2-0 Mudhens.

A leadoff double from Beilfuss lead off the bottom half of the fifth. Braden Uelmen would single sending the pinch runner, Aiden Hillsburg, to third putting runners on the corners with two out. Zuleger would walk to load the bases as Brehmer would follow with a single scoring two. Stoltenow completed the scoring for the Hens with a single to center that would score Zuleger.

Navarino made it interesting in the top of the ninth on four hits to score three but fell short effectively ending their season.

Next up for the Mudhens is a matchup against the Bonduel Broncos. The winner will advance to the Dairyland League Grand Championship game.

ITS PLAYOFF SEASON!

Today the Mudhens begin their quest as the number 4 seed in the Dairyland League. The top 8 teams survive a grueling 16 game season to get to this point and move on to the league tournament.

By virtue of finishing in the top half of the league, Cecil opens today with a HOME game against the number 5 seeded Navarino Rangers. First pitch is at 1:30 this afternoon at Joe Peterman Park. Cya there.

Cecil Mudhens Defeated By Nichols Nitros

Cecil Mudhens fell to Nichols Nitros 10-5 on Sunday at Nichols, WI.

Cecil Mudhens were the first to get on the board in the second when Braden Uelmen hit a solo home run to right field.

Collin Leisgang singled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped Nichols Nitros tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

A single by Uelmen gave Cecil Mudhens the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.

Nichols Nitros made the score 4-2 in the bottom of the third after Marcus Jens singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Noah Beilfuss singled to left field, which helped Cecil Mudhens tie the game at four in the top of the fourth.

Nichols Nitros captured the lead, 8-4, in the bottom of the fifth when Max Belling doubled, scoring one run, Ethan Volz singled, scoring one run, and Justin Krull drew a walk, scoring one run.

Cade Johnson earned the win for Nichols Nitros. The pitcher gave up eight hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking four. Mason Zuleger took the loss for Cecil Mudhens. The pitcher went one inning, surrendering four runs on four hits, striking out none and walking three. Beilfuss led things off on the mound for Cecil Mudhens. The starter gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one.

Cecil Mudhens collected 11 hits in the game. Mason Meverden and Trace Brehmer each collected three hits for Cecil Mudhens. Uelmen and Beilfuss were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Cecil Mudhens. Zuleger collected two hits for Cecil Mudhens in five at bats. Cecil Mudhens turned one triple play in the game. Cecil Mudhens turned one double play in the game.

Nichols Nitros accumulated 13 hits in the game. Leisgang, the number eight hitter for Nichols Nitros, led the way with two runs batted in. Leisgang went 2-for-4 on the day. Nick Volz led Nichols Nitros with four hits in four at bats. Jens and Volz each collected multiple hits for Nichols Nitros. Nichols Nitros had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Nichols Nitros turned two double plays in the game.

As most are aware if you are following us, this past Sunday was our “Booster” day. Our annual fundraising day is how we manage to keep our organization funded in order to pay for bats, balls, uniforms, and operational costs.

The Cecil Mudhens organization and team want to thank everyone who donates during this event. It truly takes a Village to make this all work. The winners that were drawn are shown in the picture.

BEILFUSS LEADS HENS TO VICTORY

Noah Beilfuss had a banner day as he had three hits in four plate appearances that netted four RBI’s. Add that into a strong pitching performance as he threw seven strong innings to get the win allowing two runs(one earned) while striking out four as the Mudhens would go onto win against the Navarino Rangers 9-5.

Garrett Engel would hit a two run homer in the bottom of the first to get things going for Cecil.

Mason Zuleger would hit a first pitch double to left to lead off the second inning. An error from the Rangers short stop off the bat of Reece Stoltenow would score Zuleger to make it 3-0. With two outs in the inning Engel would single to left that advanced Stoltenow to third. Beilfuss followed with a single to score Stoltenow making it 4-0 after two complete.

After Navarino scored one in the top of the third inning, Brody Schutt lead off the bottom of the fourth with a single up the center of the infield. Stoltenow followed with the same putting runners on the corners. Brodie Hartman grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Schutt from third to make the score 5-1 after four complete.

The Rangers would add one in the bottom of the fifth to bring it to 5-2.

The Hens would take control in the sixth as they would add four. Consecutive singles by Zuleger, Schutt, and Hartman would score one. Beilfuss would follow with a three run home run over the center field fence to make it 9-2 after six innings.

Navarino would not go away as the would score three in their half of the eighth to complete the scoring on the afternoon. Hartman (who came in on relief in the eighth) would not allow another to complete the game.

The win puts Cecil at 9-6 in Dairyland league play and secures a home game as the league playoffs are looming in two weeks. They will put their five game winning streak on the line as they complete their league play next week when they travel to Nichols to take on the Nitros.

ITS GAMEDAY IN CECIL

The Mudhens host the Navarino Rangers in Dairyland league play. First pitch is at 1:30 pm at Joe Peterman park. A win for the Hens would secure a home playoff berth in the playoffs that begin in two weeks and extend their winning streak to four.

Today is also the Mudhens annual “Booster”day. Over $3000 in cash prizes will by handed out throughout the game to some lucky recipients. Prizes are listed in the photos, there are a limited number of tickets available at the game or with your favorite player. Cya at the park!

MUDHENS UPHEAVE LAKEMEN

The Cecil Mudhens beat the division leading Waupaca Lakemen by a score of 11-5 on Sunday at Joe Peterman field.

Waupaca jumped in the lead on the first pitch that was thrown. Parker Krcmar took the first pitch over the right field fence to put the Lakemen on top 1-0.

Cecil returned the favor in their half of the first as Garrett Engel deposited a home run over the left field fence to tie the score at one.

Isaac Boldt would reach on an error to lead off the second inning. After a fielders choice from
Mason Zuleger, Reese Stoltenow would double to put the Hens ahead.

From there Cecil would never look back as they scored five runs in the third to open the lead. They scored single runs in every inning except the seventh and improve to 8-6 in league play.

Easton Engel, Garrett Engel , and Ken Casper would hit home runs. Fifteen hits were amassed in total as Stoltenow, Boldt, Braden Uelmen, and Mason Meverden all had two hits.

Meverden started on the mound. He pitched five innings to pick up the win allowing eight hits and four runs. Noah Beilfuss completed the game not allowing a hit over four innings. The pair combined to strike out 9.

The Mudhens will be back in Dairyland league play on Sunday, August 2nd against the Navarino Rangers.
