So the other day this happened, same trip as the big blue and that hundred pounder I posted the other day. We had to work for this fish, first it never ran after biting, then it got in a tree while fighting it Paula Courtney thought she was gonna loose it for sure. I knew it was a big fish, doesnt seem like the big ones should bite subtly but often they do. Cortland Line masterbraid did its job and held up even rubbing on a tree with a 180 pound fish tied to it. Eagle claw hook held on even though it got put to the ultimate test, alligator gar dont just look like alligators they bite like them too! Everyone has seen a hook straightened out by a logtrout, but how many have seen a hook crushed? This was the best fish of the day. We tagged this fish and sent it on the way, hopefully someone else will see it but bigger. Thanks for looking.

Several days ago I made a few posts about those nasty eating my gar baits. This is an fishing page and service! We started out the day with a rain/storm delay, but we were not detered. Once the rain let up I made a pretty good run and set up with Paula Courtney and her friend whom my friend Chris Moody sent over while he deals with some health issues. I cut up some delicious carp steaks with my dexter knife(used same one for years) and baited up on penn squall reels and catch the fever rods strung with cortland masterbraid. Not long after setting up Paula's friend got what she came far! 74" and right about 100 # ! It looked like she was gonna get worn down by the fish, but not so!

Supposed to be an page I know, but sometimes get in on the action too. This was a good sized blue for the on rod reel which easily bottomed out my 30 # scale and it measured at 41" long with a 25.5" girth, medium child sized. Fish were caught on and rods. Im trying out new reels and rods, liked everything the other day. Chris Moody at Texas Fishing Addiction Guide Service sent Paula Courtney and her friend over for me to take them while he heals up. More to post later from this trip. Remember that bent hook? Bluecat here didnt do it. If you want in on or know someone that would like to catch them a trinity river hit me up or tag them!

Recently I have been helping my friend Chris Moody at Texas Fishing Addiction Guide Service run his trips while he deals with some medical stuff, he has a pretty good layout on what is going on over on his personal page. He has been a friend for a long time and it is an honor to be trusted with his clients and his vote of confidence. I am also demoing some new rod and reel set ups. More info and pictures later. Here is a teaser...it ended well, promise! You know its a big one when they vise grip the hooks! I had these folks out the other day. Had a relatively short active window and got them a 6' fish and a 5'. The bull and verbal antics were almost as much fun as the fishing. Its always fun to keep the pot stirred up all day, really enjoyed this trip.

I had some younger folks out last Friday, we caught several alligator gar. Nothing really big but they had a good time and got to experience the Trinity River and catch some future river monsters. All fish tagged and released. I have dates available for anyone looking to catch their own future or current river monster.
