Well today didn’t go as we had hoped but still SOOOOO proud of these kiddos. To make it to state is a great accomplishment!!! But the thing I am most proud of is the way all our kids represent our school and community!!! We had 28 total kids this year between JR and SR and they all grew so much as trap shooters and as people!! When I say we are family I mean it!!! We have had our share of ups and downs this year both on the shooting range and in our families but we all stood strong for one another and that is far more than we as coaches could have ever hoped for. A lot of people do not understand trap shooting and might not even see it as a sport. I encourage you to come out and watch these kids. It’s so much more than shooting a clay pigeon. It’s learning responsibility and respect while also having fun. And it’s a lot harder than it looks trust me!! So to the 2026 trap team and parents thank you for everything and for all the memories this year. Now we rest for a little bit and get started on next year!!!

Tomorrow morning these 10 kiddos will be headed to Jacksonville for the State Trap Shoot!!! This is an amazing accomplishment only the top 64 teams out of 483 in the state qualify for State!!!

Please send them all the good vibes tomorrow!!!

Just remember kiddos no matter the outcome you have worked for this and you have represented the school and community amazingly!!! And for that we are so proud of each one of you!!!

Well we adventured out today and took our two state qualifier squads and our JR 1 squad to Jonesboro shooting complex for a tournament!! After shooting our two boxes of shells to rank us for bracket play!! We ended with one squad consisting of Bentley Brockway, Claire McKay, Owen Kapteyn, Colton Crumley and Ava McKay in the bracket play!! They made to the second round of bracket play getting beat out by Brookland!!! Proud of the kiddos because this was first time we had shot this range!!!

Claire McKay was the high over all Female winning a medal and $50. Way to go Claire Bear!!!

Long but worthy post!!

Well this weekend was full of all things trap!!
We had JR High Regionals on Friday. In the nasty rainy weather and lots of lightning delays that made it an all day adventure!!! Unfortunately our JR squads did not make it to state this year!!! But we are so proud of them for weathering the storm, literally and having a positive attitude!! They have a lot to be proud of this year!!! They have improved every practice and been a great group of kiddos to coach and be around!!! They have represented our school and community so well and we are proud to call them ours!!

JR 1 squad consisting of Nathaniel Doyle, Cade Treadway, Brizden Melton, Tanner Branscum and Jordan Walling ended up finishing 17th out of 107 squads with a score of 97/125 only missed getting to state by one target!!!

JR 2 squad consisting of LJ Kirk, Caleb Johnson, Elias Kazzee, Hunter Coke and Emmett Lopez ended up finishing 62nd out 107 squads with a score of 71/125!! 4 out of 5 of these members this was their first year on the team !!!

Super proud of our JRs and can’t wait til next season!!!

Today was regionals for our SR High Sqauds!!!

SR 1 squad consisting of Bricen Carter, Gus Musick, Wyatt Higginbottom, John Alan Carter and Jaycob Joplin ended up 17th out of 136 squads with a score of 222/250 only missed going to state by 1 point!!!

SR 2 squad consisting of Bentley Brockway, Claire McKay, Owen Kapteyn, Colton Crumley and Ava McKay ended up 9th out of 136 squads with a score of 227/250!!! THEY ARE STATEBOUND!!!! SO PROUD!!!

SR 3 squad consisting of James Compton, Evan Street, Ely Roberts, Joshua Smithee and Silas Maiga ended up 11 out of 136 squads with a score of 226/250!!! And Ely Roberts shot his first 25 straight!!! THEY ARE STATEBOUND!!!! SO PROUD!!!

SR 4 squad consisting of Elijah McReynolds, Joshlyn Nail and Ryder Wilson ended up 112 out of 136 squads with a score of 97/150!!!!

All in all we are so proud of all of kiddos!!! It’s amazing to watch them!!! The smiles are worth it all!!!

We are just blessed to be a small part of these kids lives and I hope they all know how proud we are of each one of them and your trap coaches are some of your biggest fans!!!!

It has been a full weekend of trap!!! And I will have a full post all about it later but this guy deserves a post of his own!!! He shot his first 25 straight today in the regional tournament!!! Way to go Ely Roberts!!! We are proud of you!!!
